Congrats to Naji on his new contract with the Pelicans. I guess AH was wrong and "hero ball" does pay off in the long run. Think of all the talent we had two years ago, year two was probably Steele's worst coaching performance.

this year's current rookie minimum for a full year is about $898,000. If if if he gets a full standard 2 year contract, he should make this or more.???

Happy for Naji, and I always said his game would translate better to the next level, if he made it. Hero ball culminated into three NIT appearances. Naji is a downhill player, exceptional athlete with length, great defender, and finishes well at the rim. Steele tried to make him into Steph Curry, (along w/Goodin) and teams happily accommodated by packing the lane. Steele has had great difficulty figuring out how to create schemes around the players and their skillsets, and instead insisted on jamming square blocks into round openings by making the players adopt to his schemes.
Hopefully, the learning curve gets easier going into year four.

in 2018 we made sec round(w/number 1 seed) and Naj was injured early only played 12 minutes as a freshman. As a sophomore if he does not get charge call against Gillespie we win the game and are in the NCAA. Junior year he hit the go ahead and if we guard Baldwin differently(and Nze gets called for most illegal pick) we win that game and make at least the PIG. We have not been great and hard to believe we did not make tournament with core4 Plus Hankins and even Castlin/Welage(or Core 4 plus Freemantle (and Carter who had 17 against Butler). It just goes to show the margin of error. Naj carried us 2019-2020. I am very aware of his weaknesses but if Q could have turned it around a little hero ball would not be necessary. Good luck to Naj and Edmund (and still hopeful for Trevon but seems fleeting)

A lot of what if's the past three years with Steele. Goodin was never a good shooter from the start, so not sure whey he thought it was a good idea for Q to getting to throw brick after brick and run a slow down game when we didn't have the shooters or personel. You give that roster to a good coach and could be a sweet sixteen team. Good for Marshall

nothing like taking a topic about Naji and turning it into a beat-up of your favorite coach
