Just got injured so let us see how bad it is. Maybe it wasn't the coach
Let Steele go Mman. Four years with a lot of variables (different players) and several constants with him, including:
- No tourney in four years after making it 16 of the previous 18 years before he came on campus.
-AAU style offense and lack of accountability.
-Little development and a lot of regression with players.
-More boos heard in Cintas than the previous two decades combined.
-February swoon became a hallmark of X's program, including losing must win games as highly, prohibitive favorites in the BE tourney.
Conference performance relative to the previous forty years was abysmal. The text box is limited to 400k characters, so I'll stop there. I do wish him the best of luck, after taking over a train humming at 100 mph, and guiding it off the tracks into a 100 foot ravine.
Anyhoo, the atmosphere was a lot better in Cintas, and even though the lower bowl had a fair amount of gaps. Attendance was still 3x greater that Tuesday's game. Three point shooting wasn't very good, but Freemantle and Hunter only took one between them (spoiler alert, it did not go through the hoop). Free had a nice, economical game, and did a decent job defensively. X was helped out by horrible shot selection by Fla.
Shocker: Nunge and Odom played the best games yet again. Free played well, and Colby played decently, but he needs to get it out of his mind that he ain't an alpha. If he was at Forham....he still wouldn't be. However, he is a very good complimentary player, and Miller is a
systems coach. I can see this team playing a lot like the 08 E8 team, where five guys averaged double figures.
X won because they played good D, rebounded very well, and didn't take a double digit number of bad shots. They also shot well from the line, but even if the percentage was the same as Tuesday's game, they would have still won by double digits. They even had 18 T.O.s and won it going away.
I was perplexed as hell why Edwards only played three good minutes again. and went into Loch Ness Monster mode, and that neither Stanley nor Miles saw action again. Hopefully, Miller will utilize them, especially Stanley, b/c both can contribute. Stanley hs very creative around the hoop, as evidenced by the three games where he saw more than 12 minutes.
Overall better player/ball movement and discipline was evident today. X is going to MSG, after beating Vandy by seven points later on this week.
