I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

We seem to be on a roll recruiting wise. Curious which coach is running point on the recent pickups.

Jackson has come in big on a few of these guys and has proven he learned something under Travis. Now let's get them signed and sealed as quick as can bexaviermuskie2003 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 08, 2022 10:11 pmWe seem to be on a roll recruiting wise. I’m not sure this has much to do with Steele but more about Miller. Steele didn’t have much luck with bringing in shooters based on Xavier being one of the worst shooting BE teams the last four years.

I am talking about how Jackson has grown as a recruiter. When he came to X as a coach, he wasn't much on the recruiting trail but grew under Travis as a capable recruiter and at the end a very good recruiter with some of our better players(Kam Craft and Desmond Claudes) staying because of his contact with them. I know you hated Travis and thought that anything he touched was crap, but he shared his recruiting talent with his assistants and made Jackson an all-around better coach.

Steele was a nice guy that everyone wanted to succeed however he was a mediocre coach at best. I had no problem with him being hired at X, but quickly knew he was over his head and did not have much of a backbone with his players and that is the opinion of most associated with program. Scruggs, Jones, Hanky, Marshall, Q, and Welage and you can’t get to the tourney I knew we were in trouble. Of course insisting on playing Q and Scruggs at PG didn’t help. Steele is a nice guy, but not a BE or Xavier coach.

As I said it was Travis that helped Jackson mature as a recruiter but then you had to change it so you could beat your favorite dead horse and try an highjack a topic about a new commitmentskyhops wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 6:21 pmSteele was a nice guy that everyone wanted to succeed however he was a mediocre coach at best. In fairness, you opened the door for the criticism with your lingering agape for Steele.muskieman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 8:17 pmAs I said it was Travis that helped Jackson mature as a recruiter but then you had to change it so you could beat your favorite dead horse and try an highjack a topic about a new commitmentskyhops wrote: ↑Fri Sep 09, 2022 6:21 pmSteele was a nice guy that everyone wanted to succeed however he was a mediocre coach at best. Re: Kachi Nzeh
The topic is how “Travis” helped mature Dante Jackson? This recruit wants to play in the NBA and Sean Miller has a proven track record of putting players in the NBA. Dante is a nice guy as well but Miller is running the ship. Thank goodness the last four years have been rough. Don’t worry MM “Travis” is doing fine and is almost as financial stable as AH. It is still puzzling how MM and others talk about how great of a recruiter Steele was yet his teams never made it to the tourney.
