Zack Freemantle update

Postby muskieman » Sun Mar 05, 2023 9:08 pm

Xavier's Zach Freemantle to have season-ending foot surgery
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Tough news for Zack and the team. I'm sure he's doing the right thing. Health should be the number 1 priority. Hopefully he heals well and is back to full strength next season for us or his professional career.

Well said. Still, has me wondering “what if.” Best team we have had in a long time but we are not the same caliber without him.

one thing is for sure - Zach Freemantle will NOT play another game in a Xavier uniform.

if he was a LOCK to be drafted in the NBA at all, i can understand this decision. but he's not. not even close.

i'm not going to say anything else about him on here as i could get banned.

Godspeed to him in his professional career which will NOT be in the NBA.

I heard a few weeks ago that it was a strong possibility that Free was not coming back this year and I have to agree with Skip that I don't believe he is coming back based on my sources. I find it odd that he was cleared to play/practice, but suddenly he is going to have season ending surgery? Unlike Steele Miller will not put up with these shenanigans.

I feel real bad for Zach. He was having a good year and really put X at another level offensively. Sean had a very positive impact on the mental aspects of his game and I think he would have continued to develop in that area as the season progressed. Letś pray that the young man has successful surgery and can continue playing. I selfishly hope that he comes back to play for XU.

Not knowing anything other than what I have read on this site, my instinct would be to have a bit of empathy for Zach. This injury was not his fault. Now if he feels the best long-term solution is to shut it down and have the surgery, then I will respect that decision. He was likely going to have a difficult time ramping up in 1.5 weeks to get back to where he left off anyway. Once again, it may seem somewhat selfish to us, and I obviously t=do not know all the inner ramifications, but I shall cut him some slack and wish him nothing but the best. Just a shame honestly. Not as wicked of a shame as when the Bearkitties lost Kenyon a week before the dance way back when, but a definite shame. Leaving us again to mutter: 'shoulda, woulda - coulda...' On the bright side, Cesare the last 3 games has seemed to play like a man who has seen a light go on. Now whether it is a 60 watt bulb or a shiny 100 watt bulb remains to be seen. But definite & notable improved & steady contributions as if he has gained another level of confidence. That has me a bit more optimistic about our dancing potential. So last question, can anyone update us now on Kyky? Is it a situation where he can start easing back in this week and maybe be 90% for the madness? (as he would be a nice extra option to have at our disposal if only for 4 to 8 min a game)

strictly rumor mill....before this announcement. Someone said a screw came loose in his foot which was a cause of pain....? and could only be repaired by another surgery.

I have also been accused of having a screw loose by many on this board.
