Xavier beat Creighton at home, 90-87, on Jan. 11
Creighton beat Xavier at home, 84-67, on Jan. 28

In their first meeting, Souley and Colby combined for 46 points on 14-of-24 shooting. Jack Nunge also had a double-double. In the rematch, which Creighton won comfortably, Souley had his lowest-scoring game in three years, finishing with just two points, while Colby had 13. Creighton howed how dangerous they can be against Villanova. When Kalkbrenner gets going, the inside-out game is established, and they move the ball or get out in transition, they’re a hard team to keep up with scoring.

JUST WIN!

Creighton -3.5

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Thx MM. If y'all recall, that 2nd meeting at Creighton where we got pummeled, we ran into early severe foul trouble. (which of course X is very vulnerable too). Plus, the early 2nd foul on Jack was a ludicrous phantom whistle - and forced him to sit most of 1st half where the Blue Jays built a huge lead and the crowd helped pour on the ugly mojo for X. Not an excuse by any means. It happens. tall task tonight but I believe we will put forth one of our better overall efforts. Will it be good enough?

Remember the first game Zack and Jack ran a high low and while Zack didn't score much he feed Jack like Burrow to Chase. In the Second game Hunter and Jack did not have the same success.

Lets see We only play 6-7 guys, Quick turnaround and Creighton is a 3.5 favorite. Doesn't matter. Creighton is going down. Miller and his team get the upset. Keys to the game. #1 get the 7 foot 4 inch Light tower in foul trouble. Nunge got called for a couple cheap fouls early last time. Karma needs to even things out. #2 stay out of foul trouble ourselves. Put Edwards in early and let him bang the Big Guy around. He may react with a couple silly fouls. #3 put Boum on somebody who doesn't drive to the basket too much. We need a big game from Nunge and Jack will deliver. It would be nice if Jones is in All American mode again. Go X.

Keys to game:

Creighton doesn't have anyone who can guard Jones other than Kaluma, and he will guard Hunter.
Nunge has to stay out of foul trouble and pull Kalk out. He is a menace defensively in the lane.
Boum has to play better D. Just has to.
Hunter has to be able to execute hi-low today.

Creighton:
Nemhard can get by Boum at will.
Kunk can't guard Sheirman
Nunge can't let Kalk establish a position deep in the post.
X has to limit Creighton on transition. They make you pay.

Thrilled with defensive effort even if sloppy on offense.

Excellent first half. Claude was great. Outstanding defensive effort so far. My man Edwards is banging bodies in there. Very physical. We out worked them on both ends of the court. Only 4 team fouls in the first half. We have to be alert at the start of the second half. Can't sleep walk the first 5 minutes. Keep driving to the basket and wearing out their big guy. Give Edwards more time in the second half. He is making their Big guy tired .Loved the defensive effort.

Outstanding 1st half, and a great defensive game plan by a defensive guru SM. As a Mod, I get to say who looks at my posts, and someone from The Four Seasons in NY spent a lot of time on my threads last night. I thought it was Coach, but alas, the name was spelled Shawn, and not Sean Miller.

Boum played his best defensive half of his career at X, and has been stellar offensively, as usual.
Claud is also playing like the stud he is going to be.
Jones is....well Jones, the best all-around SF in cbb.

The only negatives.:

Nunge playing very scared. Shaq ain't guarding him.
SM's strategic error of bringing Nunge in up 14 with 2 minutes in the half. He very well could have been called for two fouls.

Game aint over. Creighton is one of the best teams in the country. X will have to minimize their inevitable runs, and hit free throws.

Now if Jack can hit some threes and keep their big man away from the basket JColby, Souley, Des, and Adam can continue to work the rim. You know Ceighton has a run in them, so X needs to start quickly and take their heart. Jack played 11 minutes, so he should not be tired is X can keep him fresh.
