Adam Baum Xavier beat writer

Postby muskieman » Fri Mar 31, 2023 7:09 pm

is leaving the Enquirer so X will again have to hope they put someone of his quality to cover the Muskies. Adam told his Twitter users not to unfriend him yet because ????

He posted this " After 16 years, today’s my last day at The @Enquirer . I accepted a job outside of journalism. I’m so grateful for the opportunity and for everyone who believed in me and helped me along the way. It means the world to me that I got to do something I loved in my hometown. This job has allowed me to meet people and create friendships that I’ll always cherish. It’s a hard thing to leave behind, but I’m excited for what’s next. As for what’s next, I’ll have more to say in time, but for now — Xavier nation, I wouldn’t unfollow me yet 👀?

Good Luck Adam and Thank you
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Looks like the Enquirer dumps good writers for budget purposes. I hope they get someone like Adam, and I hope Adam stays in Cincy to continue with Xavier's reporting. Shannon and Adam were two of the best following X since Dustin Dow. Shannon lost her job with the Athletic. Maybe they should team up. Maybe a rival site like 247 for them?

Maybe because the Enquirer charged money to read their articles online. Limits readers which impacts advertising money. Foolish.

It’s $3.99 a MONTH for a subscription, (and they still allow non-subscribers to read much of the paper without a subscription.) It’s a cheap buy and it helps support local journalism. If one really cares about having local writers and local news, then it’s important that the outlets that can bring that to you be supported. $3.99 a month is really a very cheap way to do that.

But I don’t think that he was “dumped”. I think that he just decided to do something different. I think it was his choice.

Three really good ones in a row: Dustin Dow, Shannon, and Adam. X is known as Power Forward U. They are gaining that rep for beat writers as well.

Sad to see Adam go because he was a great writer for Xavier's sports. I hear it was the Enquirer policy of always having a deadline and no time for solid background pieces, which he had done early on was no longer accepted.
