Xavier has landed North Texas transfer big man Abou Ousmane, he told
@stadium
.

The 6-10, 230-pound big man averaged 11.1 points and 6 boards per game last season for the Mean Green.

Terrific, physical defender. Anchor of a big-time UNT defense

Sean has filled 12 ships and has one more if he wants to fill it. Last year and in prior years, only 12 were filled.

Abou Osumane, a 6-foot-10 big man from Brooklyn, NY. He’s played three seasons for North Texas. Over the three-year stretch, Ousmane has seen an increase in playing time and production each season. He played 26 games as a freshman — all off the bench. Over the last two seasons, he’s started all 66 games for the Mean Green, averaging 10.7 points and six rebounds per game. Ousmane is a strong finisher at the rim. He doesn’t appear to have much of a mid-range game but looks comfortable with his back to the basket. A dominant shot-blocker, Ousmane blocked 84 shots during his time at North Texas — the fifth most in school history. He also earned All-C-USA third-team honors for the 22-23 season, playing a critical role in guiding the Mean Green to the 2023 NIT Championship

Last season, Abou had five double-doubles and scored a career-high 37 points on 15-of-19 shooting against UTSA on Dec. 22. Ousmane posted a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Marshall. Ousmane followed up with another solid performance in UNT's 63-62 win over Louisiana Tech

Out of high school, where he attended Scotland Performance Institute (Pa.), Ousmane was listed as a three-star recruit, according to Rivals. He was unranked by 247Sports, ESPN and On3. Osumane passed on offers from a host of nationally prominent programs to join UNT’s class. Texas A&M and Georgetown were among 18 schools that offered Osumane a scholarship.

I am now officially on Cloud-9… Welcome Abou! I must say Xavier Nation, this was the final piece of the puzzle I was rooting for. I admit I have been a bit obsessed lately and have been watching tons of clips of Abou, Ike & Shedrick. All three would have been fab, but Shedrick does not have Abou’s untapped upside and was looking like a well under 50% chance to land him. Ike a week ago would have been tops with 3 yrs left but looking like he is now leaning Gonzaga and staying out West. Honestly I see Abou as having the potential to reach Ike’s level with some coaching and a bit more upper body strength. After Abou, it seemed there was a huge drop off in true low post portal talent. In other words, I think the staff made a beautiful call here with this talented young man who is just starting to blossom. Taking the bird-in-hand and making sure we got one of these top three centers. Watching his tape he seems to enjoy playing the game and is a willing and skilled passer when doubled or cut off. He is long and extremely quick and athletic. His D is already above average and his offensive game seems to be rapidly catching up. We have no word on Free yet, but this signing should excite him as Abou would seem the perfect compliment to Zach’s skills. Just pumped beyond belief, three of the top players from an underrated CSUA. Welcome to the Big East young men. I do believe the B’East as a solid chance to be the best league in the nation next season. Strap on those helmets boyz this is gonna be fun..

Any chance for one more big guy? 5 in Zack, Jerome, Logan, Abou, and Kachi. Also isn't one of the other freshmen like 6'8" or10", which would make 6 or is he more of a 3?

Need a wing, a 7 footer and a big that can stretch the floor.

Who fits that description, Jessie?
