Who would everyone pick for their all-time Xavier starting lineup, plus a 6th man, to win one game for the national title? Here's my lineup:

C: Tyrone Hill
PF: David West
SF: James Posey
SG: Byron Larkin
PG: Drew Lavender (such a good distributor, and you don't need much PG point production with this lineup)
6th Man: Jordan Crawford - seemed he like always played best in the brightest lights.

I got to go with West, Hill, Grant, Sato and Larkin first team. Second team I have Strong, Jones, Christon, Lenny Brown and Chalmers. Third team I have Bluiett, Macura, Posey, Reynolds and Lavender.

F: West
F: Hill
F: Grant
G: Crawford
G: Larkin

6th: Posey

So many excellent bigs. In todays game Posey would have to be in the lineup to shoot. So, would sub him in for Grant if we were looking at lineups that have a chance.

Agree with you Sato, but with one important change and one caveat. Steve Thomas has to replace Drew, And Miller HAS to be the coach or we have to replace the 6th man with either you (Sato) or Colby, but I'm leaning toward Sato.

SC, I agree with your Steve Thomas comment. However, he would be on my second team because of his lack of defensive skills. Also don't forget about some other old-timers like the "Bird."

Gun, appreciate your thots but while 5'4" Drew (kidding) was quicker not sure there would have been more than 4-5 points difference on the defensive end, I think it would be more than offset by the 15+ points on the offensive end.

Also, while I loved the Bird in his day, not sure he had the athleticism to go against todays player, certainly would have the strength but not the hops.

How quickly Bob Quick is forgotten; played six years in a 12 team NBA

Gym,

Didn't forget him. Several years ago when we did one of these--Top 20 all time players, I had him 12th out of everyone who ever played for X. But this one only wanted 6. But, I could see him being a legitimate 6th man choice along with Sato or Jones for what this team would need to win the NC

Putting WAY too much time into this, but I just went back and checked and I had Sato at 11.So if I went back and re-ranked I don't think I'd have Jones in the top 20 even, so yea, Quick or Sato 6th man!! Again, if Miller isn't coaching.

I am always amazed how folks doing these all-time lists never remember the old-timers. Then I remembered that Steve Thomas will be 81 next week. That means that only a few of us saw him play.
