Rober Morris vs X game thread

Postby muskieman » Mon Nov 06, 2023 5:23 pm

This should be a good tune-up. RM plays 9 to 10 guys, and while they probably will not hang with X, there might be Hockey line changes from both sides. Hope to see Good Quincy play and see if the slump shooting he has experienced in the SECRETE Scrimmages was an anomaly. If Quincy can't score, we may see Trey at the two for minutes.

Looks like the two-headed Forward spot will be without Laz tonight, so Gytis gets his shot tonight at major minutes
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Sloppy, but some really fun things. Too much fouling by X as RM was 19-22 from the line while X 9-13. Des is the star, and Gytis and Abou will do fine with Sasa surprising me after all the talk. 17 turnovers, not good 21 assists on 32 made shots shows Sean's teaching. 11 three-point shots were less than average last year but 36% from three. 5 players double figures. No Ducharne, of Kam. Swain many freshman mistakes but 3 rebounds, 2 steals, and effort were there. Gytis had a double-double

Trey Green's passes are above the talent of the players, but if they ever match up, WOW.

57% from field 69 from line

I enjoyed the game but would like to see leads not disappear so much.

Good showing overall, considering this is as much turnover as I've ever seen in a high major. X was without two of their key guys in Craft (concerns me as to why he didn't play while apparently healthy) and Lazar. Claude has taken a huge leap. It's too bad Hunter and Free are out. They would be a tourney team with them. Not this year, but they have a really good core of young players. Once Swain develops a jumper, he will be really good. He's already ahead of most young guys defensively and glides in the open court like Semaj. They'll take their lumps, but will Miller's tutelage, they'll take a major leap next year.

38 and 39 for the halves is pretty consistent. I agree with AH's Swain comments. Looks a little like Des Jr. Lazar's broken finger might hurt him for a few games. While not trying to be too critical BUT X's schedule is going to get real quickly, which means they need to clean up problems fast. Next Monday is Purdue, with Jacksonville this Friday, so everyone needs to be hitting on all cylinders if they don't want to get blown out.

Scouting San Diego State at the moment OH and Michigan St and Tom Isso with 8 seconds to go in OT is losing to James Madison 78-74

MSU loses to JMU, and OKL St loses to Abilene Christian. Boy, I'm glad I don't moderate those boards. I would have to pull an all-nighter, like when X lost to Bucknell on the team that lost to OSU when Odom's mugging of Cage went uncalled.

A game take from and Indy Muskie, as requested by MM.

Cast against a gray October sky.... Oh sorry, wrong sport, wrong school and wrong month.

I spent a good deal of time trying to find the roster. I gave up trying to pronounce the names. Overall my impression is that we have a lot of talent. Once they start looking like a team they will be much better. Sean will get them there. No doubt Des is the stud. He will only get better. As long as good teams are not able to focus on him and shut him down, he will be effective. Whether they can do that or not depends on how well those around him play.

Olivari looked good. Trey will get there but he does not yet wow me and he is definitely undersized. Swain impressed me. He is going to be good, as is Nzeh. Ousmane has a Big East Body and will definitely give us a presence underneath. He is athletic and very big. Ciani (Fr) will help but he is raw. He needs to bulk up (X will take care of that) and i do have a question about his hands.

Gytis is the real deal. Best all around player on the team. He is smooth and a better rebounder than I expected. We will need him to play a lot. I think we only get him for one year. Too bad.

In conclusion, it is a W and that is really what we are about. I agree with Sean (post game) we should have won by more. Turnovers! But we will get better. Surprised Cam did not play.

Nice opener. It was not pretty, and it isn't going to be pretty. In fact, we should all expect a VERY bumpy but fascinating ride. As Anti stated well, I do not know how many top-tier D-1 programs have had to integrate this many new faces. Frosh, portal transfers and international players. In Sean we trust baby!! But let's be realistic, especially with Lazer now with a significant setback, This team is going to absorb many more L's than we all will be comfortable with. That said, with a little luck on the health side, (which good golly I believe we have earned), once lazar gets back and back up to speed I am excited to see where we are come Mid-January. Oh, and one more thing - My excitement level for Mr. Dailyn Swain is through the roof. Sure he is raw, but so young and gifted. I am telling y'all, the 2nd coming of our beloved James Posey....

The lack of size and skill on our front line will not fair well in the Best East or some of the better non conference teams. I think an undersized Robert Morris team got 10 offensive boards? Hopefully, Lazar will help but wasn't real impressed with bigs but to be expected with high turnover. We will also need someone to step up if Claude is having an off night. Not a lot of playmakers, but they play hard and we have Miller not Steele.

Long time since last post. Hope everyone is doing well.

From what I saw of the opener; some good, some sloppiness. This team, more than others, will take time finding itself. Key contributor will be Miller.

Much talk among my buddies was the lack of Kam Kraft. Any thoughts here? I figured he would play versus RM.
