Claude has 4 fouls and so does Ousmane. 13 minutes to go.

At the end of the first half, the Washington coach caught the ref and read him a riot act. It worked as X has eight fouls, and Des and Abou have 4 four fouls each. Make than 9 fouls as every time down they shoot foul shots
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Too many empty possessions. Great to run but you need to make shots

X slowly bleeding to death, not scoring, and getting fouls called on them. Washington player jumps and rakes his leg and foot across Gytis's body, knocking him down but there is no call.

Was optimistic after Purdue, fools gold gonna be a long long year. Really a bad loss to a bad team. With that being said I’m still all in, Miller will figure it out the future is bright. And our age old complaint— make your free throws.

Well, I hope they learned something. Miller's magic didn't work. Quincy tries a desperation shot as a Washington player grabs him around his waist but now the ref swallows his whistle. ESPN gets and F for scheduling, X gets and incomplete and Washington get a WOW were we lucky

Tough night and tough second half for Xavier. Ousmane is fouling like he never played basketball. Green can't cover anybody. Not sure why we didn't try the zone earlier. We had 18 turnovers and 13 missed foul shots. Nemeiksa had a very good game. Green and Swain had bad turnovers down the stretch .Djokovic looks like he can play. This was a game we should have won.
Agree. We should have won this one.

That was a horrific game. Washington played terrible. Xavier lost so it is safe to say we were also bad. The officials however were even worse than the players. Bad calls both ways but far more against X. Wondering if 1 or more of the officials are Washington alum or had money on this 1. Given how tight they called the game, how did they not call an and 1 when X got within 2 with under a minute left? How did they possibly call 75% of Washington shots during a 8+ minute stretch Xavier fouls?
I can't remember ever getting the ball in the lane and not feeling contact. I certainly wasn't fouled every time but there was contact. Maybe these officials never played the game?
Missed FTs, silly TOs, defensive breakdowns. Xavier deserved to lose but so did Washington. I'm not against both teams being disqualified from the season. It was bad, very bad. The complete reliance on Claude after he checked back in is not what Xavier wants to see. Claude is good but he is not quite there yet, especially after a long rest.
How many times did Xavier not stop the ball when Washington pushed it up the court? How many times was Washington able to blow past their guy and get to the rim? If Washington converted a decent percentage of their easy opportunities and wide open shots, they would have won by 20. If converted at a high level, 30+. Similarly if X made FTs, avoided silly TOs and didn't endure the stretch of insane officiating they could have run away with it.
This game has me very concerned but hopefully it was just a bad performance. Possibly the late hour combined with horrific officiating was too much for a young team to deal with.

after the refs called 44 fouls, how did they miss this one https://twitter.com/i/status/1725777000810328410 refs starts to put his hand in air and then stops. I hate it when refs ruin basketball games, and this game is no exception. X should have still won this one but played like freshman and got outbullied in the second half.pdxmuskie wrote: ↑Sat Nov 18, 2023 2:39 amThat was a horrific game. Washington played terrible.
