Growing pains :scoring the issue

Postby Xavier2005 » Sat Nov 18, 2023 9:23 am

This team is young and growing and learning to play together. Doing well but not well enough to win. The main problem is NOT SCORING enough. The teams scoring percents from the field and the free throw line is not very good. Need to score better from a per cent of shots. Need scorers , Plus their turn overs are costing them shot opportunities. They could have beat Purdue and Washington with just a few more points . Scoring is the issue.

Their FG percentage wasn't horrible, but the FT percentage WAS horrible. No excuse for not hitting FTs. I thought the Euro players would be excellent and Gytis seems to be in that mold. Too early to tell on Lazar, but Ciani is terrible so far. Surprising. Olivari is not a good FT shooter and that is a problem. He is certainly no Souley. We are already missing many things about Souley but nothig more than his standout FT shooting.

I am sure Sean is working on the FTs but so far it is a real problem.

We are starting 3 average mid major transfers, a glue guy, and player who should be a third or fourth option. Shooting was in question when season started and many are realizing the talent ain’t really there. The sloppiness and effort on Friday is very concerning. We are looking at .500 at best. Millers timeouts and lineups were head scratchers as well.

There are 351 Division 1 mens college basketball teams. After 5 games X is ranked 264th in 3 point scoring making 29% of their shots. In field goal % X is at 45% but that ranks 147th out of the 351 teams. And rebounding X is ranked 207th. The scoring needs lots of improvement.

try Ken Pom
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
