Re: Nova Game thread
Claude has the yips. He didn’t even want the ball. Bad TO management.

Re: Nova Game thread
Des misses two down at the end of the game but the guys battled. Des had said he was going to dunk more and he should have tried on the first drive to the basket. He is leaving it short or hitting the back of the flange. He was 5-17 tonight but the last two were the killers.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Pretty damn close . We couldn't make the big shot. Claude was 5-17 and OLIVARI was 3-13. Olivari only hit one outside shot. They shot 8-30 between them . Very tough to win on the road when your two best players struggle like that. Very good effort. Can't ask for much more. We had our chances down the stretch just couldn't make the big shot. Get em next game. I thought Swain had his best game in awhile. It would have been nice to see Green with the ball on the last shot.

Re: Nova Game thread
Clade was dreadful. Miller made a gross miscalculation in the offseason by talking him up as Colby Jones the 2nd, so he wears that on his sleeve and tries to jam that square block into the round hole time after time every game. He is a horrible shooter outside of 8 feet and has caused X many key possessions. In the last five minutes, he had a non-traditional turnover when taking a non-in-rhythm three, though it at least hit the rim unlike many of his others and blew a bunny to take the lead. To top off the evening, he channeled his best "Marshall Hero Ball" by shooting the same shot he was about 0-8 today on, while a wide-open Olivari waited on the wing.
Miller has mismanaged him all year because he never faces any repercussions for his poor shot selection game after game. I suspect this scenario will play out again several more times this year.

Man, that sounds familiar just change the first name in the sentence.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 11:08 pmClade was dreadful. I hope Claude wakes up from every X fan's nightmare and realizes he is Des Claude and not Colby Jones. I like him very much on D, on the drive, and the short corner shot, but anything shot outside of that is the same as a turnover.
If there is any player who deserves more time, it's Swain.

But he has to learn to shoot the ball when he is close to the basket. He had a good shot but threw the ball outside. Trey is also a player who deserves more time, but McKnight was solid tonightAnti-Homer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 11:19 pmI hope Claude wakes up from every X fan's nightmare and realizes he is Des Claude and not Colby Jones. Re: Nova Game thread
Perhaps with respect to Claude, but he trumps the other guy in every other category. I didn't expect much this year, and they are getting better, largely due to Miller. Claude blew a great chance to take the lead. It happens, and I'd take that scenario 10 out of 10 times. Claude is obviously a comfortable net positive, but if he learned that shooting ain't his forte, he would become that much more valuable. The effort they showed in the last two games shows progress. It's all you can hope for this year, with the cards Miller was dealt. When a guy who would be the 3rd-4th best scorer on most other BE teams is the self-proclaimed Alpha (based on number and timing of shots) you know this ain't your year.muskieman wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 11:12 pmMan, that sounds familiar just change the first name in the sentence.Anti-Homer wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 11:08 pmClade was dreadful. Re: Nova Game thread
Swain does have to be a little more aggressive, but I'd rather him be this way than reckless. Trey does deserve more time, and he is getting it. McKnight isn't flashy, dynamic, nor a high-volume scorer, but ultra-reliable. I don't recall him having a turnover, and he played very solid D. Hart doesn't even start for Nova, and he would be 1B to O's 1A as a scoring option. So would about four other Nova players.muskieman wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 11:21 pmBut he has to learn to shoot the ball when he is close to the basket. He had a good shot but threw the ball outside.
