X picked third

Postby muskieman » Thu Oct 24, 2024 9:09 pm

By now you should know that on Tuesday at the Big East Preseason Coaches poll, Xavier was selected to finish third in the 2024-25 Big East, announced Tuesday. UConn, as expected, was picked 1, and Creighton was picked 2. Free was picked on the second team BE as was McKnight with Conwell on the third team.

picked after X was

4 Marquette
5 St Johns
6 Providence
7. Villanova
8. Butler
9. Georgetown
10. Seton Hall
11. DePaul

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF XAVIER BEING PICKED #3?
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

this seems right to me.

would have thought with Traore injury news we may have dropped to 4 or even 5 but I think it's right.

UConn and Creighton are teams to beat.

i'm more excited for this team this year than I have been in awhile.

As long as we can fill that big hole in the middle with Traore gone we should be OK, but our depth in the middle is gone and teams with good big centers will be a problem. Also i am not looking forward to Dec 14th through the 21st when we play @UC, @UConn and Marquette in eleven days. YIKES!

Hunter and Swain are both long and athletic. They have the ability to make it difficult on legit centers to score. Yes they will get pushed around at times but they should be able to draw offensive fouls as well as create fouls when attacking the other team's post player. Free has the ability to stay in front of his man, he just needs to decide to do it.

As long as the X bigs avoid foul trouble, the team should be fine in the Post. It will be a big improvement from last year. An opposing big will go off from time to time but that doesn't have to decide the outcome.

Forecasted 3rd seems reasonable. Hoping to challenge for first but this team will need to prove itself.
