I agree pdxmuskie. That's why we only had 2 assists in the first half. Conwell was a lot of the offensive problem. Freemantle and Hunter were clutch. McKnight was calm and steady too. Another hard fought win. The win was a grinder. We outrebounded them by 10. I have to admit Swain is really coming on.
Agreed on Conwell. He is the best offensive player, along with Free, but forces it too much at times.

BTW,

I apologize for my embarrassing prediction. I predicted X by 8, and it was 9. I ran 10,000 simulations with an algorithm I developed, and X won by 8.48 points on average. Back to the drawing board.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

In case Trey is reading this, his pull-up 3 off the steal and reset was the wrong play not because it was a terrible shot but because there were dramatically better opportunities. He probably could have faked the shot getting his man in the air and drove around him for a floater in the lane or some other more open look.

Resetting the offense since SC had more guys back would also have been a better decision. Trey is a great shooter so I don't want him to become hesitant but that shot didn't feel right. Partly because X was struggling from deep but also because of the team not being in position to rebound and valuing the ball was a higher priority at that time.

Maddox did a great job on the glass in limited minutes. It was also a BS foul call on him in my opinion as he got to the ball first and it should have been a steal and foul on SC. Guessing Ref was out of position but would have been a huge play for X. He made the right play given the risk/reward profile.

Gritty win especially since we didn't play well offensively. Free and Swain really stepped up. Hughley is still trying to figure out that Murray-Boyles is left handed. Still hard to believe that a player can come to Xavier 60 lbs overweight, lose 50 pounds and a make Stainbrook look quick. Maybe Fletcher can provide some minutes because we will get pushed around by the Michigan bigs.

Agree Hops. That first half was atrocious. So to be able to survive that and prosper in 2nd half, granted vs a subpar SEC team, is encouraging. I think that 1st half and the likely struggles we will face down low vs Mich just underscored the tragic shame of losing Lassina late preseason. We may have had a top 8 team with him in the rotation..

Well when the 7 footer ( Wolf ) is 4-4 on 3 pointers you know your in trouble. Wolf was killing it. I liked the way we were moving the ball for the first 10 minutes. Freemantle played very well. He had some straight on three pointers that he missed. Fourteen turnovers is awful. Can't win that way. Conwell hit some nice shots. Swain was invisible. The game is still there if we keep Freemantle out of foul trouble and we take care of the ball

Swain is doing his best invisible act tonight. Finally, he drives the ball to the basket but never looks at the rim as he throws it away. X needs to see the ball going through the net not making turnovers and people afraid to take a shot. Thank God we have Conwell and Freemantle

What is wrong with Sqain? Is he going to be the next transfer to oblivion
