I am in complete agreement that Miller has not been coaching at a high level. His comments regarding defensive performance several games ago were oddly harsh after 1 of the better defensive performances. His inability to get the team playing with effort during the 3 game stretch against Michigan and the next 2 was odd. Lack of timeouts as the team looked lost offensively. Terrible offensive flow against teams applying perimeter pressure.

I have stated a number of times that Miller was Xavier's best coach ever. So far, I'm not seeing it this time around. He gets a pass for last year with the injuries to Free and Hunter. Not ideal that we are again down a big but there are enough pieces to consistently beat good teams and below. The loss to TCU could be written off as a bad game if it hadn't been 2 straight bad games prior to that.

The team can be good if they are hungry on defense and find a flow on offense. When the ball is moving the team is dangerous from deep and Free can definitely score down low. The team must play with high energy.
this is exactly why HE'S the coach and we aren't. we as fans think the team played well defensively, but he sees it differently. he watches the tape. he breaks it down for each player as to when/where they had mistakes/miscues/miscommunications. for the average fan, which most of us on here are, we can't possibly see all that. it's easy for us to pick out a bad shot, a bad turnover, etc. but for us to come on here and try to say "oh yeah, their defense was fine" but Miller says "no it wasn't". he obviously knows WAY MORE than we do and can analyze breakdown what he's trying to get out of his players, what they can/can't do, and what they need to execute defensively. there's nothing wrong with his comments about the team, their effort, especially defensively, etc. you act like it's wrong for him to say those things. i'm guessing he's giving them that same message in practice but to more specific players and what they need to do. Maddux has obviously responded to it. not sure on Green. maybe he hasn't and sitting a game is what he needs to wake up and do what Sean needs him to do. I don't know. i hope that's what it is. i'm guessing by his vague answer on it afterward he didn't want to get into specifics.

either way, Sean knows what he's doing and knows how to get the most out of his players. it's not like he just magically forgot how to coach. these dudes gotta buy in. that simple.

seems like a couple already have. let's hope it keeps filtering down.

Don’t be surprised if Trey Green isn’t with the team ins January. Maddox is a good replacement, however Green’s shooting will be missed.

felt like Green's issue to me was same as Maddux's early on. both felt like if they weren't scoring then they weren't contributing so it seemed like they felt like they had to TRY to score/shoot any time they got it. Green especially. Maddux has figured out other ways to be productive, these last two games especially, where maybe Trey just couldn't figure that out. Green was thinking shot almost any time he touched the ball when he was in from what I remember and when you're 5'9" in the BE, that's a defensive liability that most guys can't overcome, no matter how good they are. it's just facts. hopefully he finds a place that can use him. i'm sure Steele would love to have him.
