I'm with you on Fletcher. Nice to see him get some time and look good.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Morgan St Dec 10 game thread
Mman,
Thank you for calling out the negative nellies on the Board. I have been biting my tongue, and was just about to post the same until I saw your timely post. I hope those who jumped off the bandwagon and broke their ankles don't look for my hand to help them back on (Hops).
Maddox continues to impress, both with shot-making, facilitating, rebounding, and defending. High Bball IQ. Happy that Coach heeded my advice before the TCU game. Fletcher looked good, but in limited minutes against a bottom 10-15 team in D-1, so hard to draw a definitive conclusion. However, He seems to have a nice stroke, and is very athletic, so would love for him to eat some of Swain's minutes if he continues to show he can score, defend, and rebound.
It was also nice to see Foster shoot so well. I don't want him to be a high volume 3-point shooter, but when he is wide open and has time, he needs to take them. They don't have enough guys who can create their own shot, so have to be proficient with open jumpers.
Hugley continues to disappoint. I don't see that changing as the competition gets much better.
The team shot 66% from 3. Despite the competition, they are capable of shooting in the mid-40s. They have taken so many bad 3s in the last few games, and they 3 pt pecentage dipped below 40%. Tonight, both the number and selection were very good, especially from the two biggest culprits, Conwell and Free.
If nothing else, hopefully, this injects energy in a team that has been listless for 3 games. They looked like they were having fun like the Dayton game. Game one of the Miller Redemption Tour is off to a good start. Thank God for folding chairs.

Re: Morgan St Dec 10 game thread
Glad to see the team remembered how to play basketball. Tough 3 game stretch where only 1 or 2 guys acted as though they had been on a court before. The struggles last several games were largely lack of ball movement, playing as a team and playing with high energy. Today all of those things were on point. Obviously the competition makes that easier so we will see if Xavier can play a similar style against good competition.
Maddox had a great game and he has had a few strong games despite limited box score impact. He needs to be a depth guy. He can defend and shoot. Showed very good vision and decision making today.
Fletcher appears to be in a similar spot as another bench warmer from prior year. Good skills and energy but limited minutes. X would be better off going small with him in the lineup as a sub for the Free, Swain and Hunter trio than going with Hugley most games. It is possible I will regret that statement after seeing him against good competition but he seems to have good reflexes and a knack for finding the ball. Also showed an ability to score.
If X can show determination against UC, I will restart my Sling subscription, otherwise I'm saving my money for the coming inflation. Watching unmotivated play, especially by professional athletes, yes they are now professional since they are getting paid, is depressing. Put in the effort, win or lose and I'll support the team. Personally, I'd recommend giving back partial payment when falling short of reasonable expectations but only those with high moral character and personal confidence is likely to follow through on that. Even less likely when considering the country has opted to support a me first attitude.

AH, I always thought I was a glass half full guy? Nice to see Fletcher getting some minutes and playing well. He wasn't even expected to play this year, so anything we get is a bonus. I still can't believe that Hughley averaged 15 points a game at a D1 school. He is one of the slower, under the rim playing bigs we have had in years. He is making Dionte Miles seem like Patrick Ewing. Sources say don't expect Trey Green to be on the team for much longer. Its too bad despite his size and poor defense he is our best shooter. Oh well.

shades of KyKy Tandy? although KyKy could sky when he got to the rim. Green doesn't really have the athletic ability KyKy had.skyhops wrote: ↑Wed Dec 11, 2024 1:55 pmAH, I always thought I was a glass half full guy? Good comparison. Looks like he is out indefinitely.

not sure if this "health related issue" is a smokescreen or not as he could now still get a medical redshirt and not lose this year so maybe X is trying to do him a solid if he wants to leave and get this year back, if possible. just a thought.
