The keys were McKnight's leadership, Karanban's fou problem, Swain's aggression, and the energy of the fans. Yeah, you can nit-pick here and there, but overall, it was a great win and something X needed. Now, duplicating that at Creighton it would be really positive for an at-large bid.
The Diarra foul problem in the first half actually helped and hurt UConn. Diarra's replacement, Mhaney, looked like he didn't know where he was when he first came into the game, but when he came in the second time, he looked relaxed and, together with Diarra, scored a combined 26 points and shot 9-15 from the field. Uconn's biggest problem this year has been overplaying Diarra, much like X's problem of Freemantle playing 36+ minutes, but yesterday Diarra played 26, and Mhaney played 23.
Suggestion for Sean: Find a Diarra, Ball, and Johnson-type player for next year's team and make sure Swain wants to stay at X.

Re: UConn game thread
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

No question that for once the Musketeers received a good whistle.
Twofold reason:
1) Brian O’Connell (formerly a referee I respected) hosed X in both the home game against Marquette and the away St. John’s game. Anyone in Big East Officiating knew that to be true.
2) Probably, and even more importantly, Danny Hurley cursed out Nathan Farrell, an up-and-coming good official, in UConn’s game against Butler Tuesday night. Brent Hampton, a veteran ref, made Hurley pay for that egregious, and well-known, indiscretion in his calls in the Xavier game. Was that right? Indeed it was. Hurley needs to be disciplined by the Big East and their failure to do so after Tuesday night action resulted in Refs finally sending a message to Hurley to clean up his act.
Plenty of other aspects to the game, just desired to comment upon A-H’s remarks.

Great game and what an atmosphere at the game. The big difference I thought was the paly of Hunter and Maddox off the bench. If we can get production from those two we are a different team. Swain played one of his best games with a bad ankle, which was evident whenever he went to the bench. The UConn guards really took it too our starters, which I think we have seen before. I thought McKnight played okay, but needs to be more consistent and both he and Free tend to disappear in the last few minutes. If we don't miss five straight free throws this is an easier victory. I'll take it on too Creighton.

We need this effort from Hunter and Maddux every game .They were the difference makers. Like the Marquette game we got the defensive stops at the end of the game to seal the deal.I'm a little concerned about our offense though in these situations.Doesn't seem like we have a real go to guy when the game is on the line.
