Re: Creighton Game thread
The stats are nice, WINS are better, and this one was big. Of the four teams above X in the BE X has beaten 3 of them and St John was almost until the end, but this is a different team from the one that started the season. Sean needs to ride the Maddox train with the Freemantle, Conwell, McKnight, and guys

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

MM - All the best and you’ll be in my special intentions.
X protected the basketball as well as could be hoped for today, with only 6 turnovers. Very few sloppy Musketeer passes in the game, almost all passes were thrown with real meaning. A dominating win which will garner attention.
Coach Miller and staff earned their pay today. Props to the Team for digging deep defensively, forcing Creighton into long, unsuccessful possessions.

I think a win today, and to feel safe, ag MQ in the BE Tourney seals the deal.Kevin Reilly wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 6:34 pmSo your saying we have a chance? All credit to Anti-Homer and his white suit. I still think we need the next four games to make sure we make the tournament. Freemantle, Conwell and Maddox carried us . Didn't know Miller makes 5 million a year. Miller deserves it but I didn't realize we had that kind of money. Real good win for us.

MM,muskieman wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 6:52 pmI was saying that, but he did get better later on with a few pull-up shots, and I am sure Creighton, though—oh no, he is starting to score.Kevin Reilly wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 6:40 pmMuskieman he did rebound well and had his best passing game (5 assists). Sixteen shots is 8 more than he should try, though.
I liked that X scored about the same in both halves: 42-41, 55+% from the field, and 11-21 from the three. I thought Conwell's three when Creighton got the score to 8 was the thing that just got X back on track, scoring on a 13-point run.
Before the game, I thought we needed to shoot a good percentage from the three. In the first half, I think we had 4-5 threes, and I thought we needed at least 5-6 in the second to stay with Creighton because I never thought they would shoot 25% from the three after our game at Creighton.
I just hope the final game that Cintas is as loud and crazy because the students may not be there because of the break.
I will be having a couple of medical procedures because of my cancer on Wednesday, so a nice win at Butler would be good for my recovery!![]()
I really hope all went well on Wed for you. Regarding the game:
Ironically, it was the most complete and dominant win at Cintas since they beat Creighton by 18-20 two years ago when they contained two great players in Scheierman & Alexander. I think that was the game Nicole Kidman was our guest in the Mod Suite.
The 3 keys to winning were:
• Kalk had 20, but not an efficient 20+ for him, and most were highly challenged.
• Ashwoth was shut down largely by McKnight.
• 4:1 A/TO ratio.
As Miller said post-game and a very astute poster said pre-, shutting down Kalk and Ashworth and conceding the 3 was the game plan. It worked. Bluejays were 6-24 from 3. Great job by the coaches, especially with the substitution pattern.
I certainly do not like Swain shooting in double digits, but I only had a problem with about 2 shots. All threes were wide open (for obvious reasons), but he challenged Kalk very well at the rim. He just needs to finish better. I like his in-lane jumper shots as well. He started poorly but hit 4 for his last 6 I believe.
I watch two things pregame: Maddox and Swain shooting. Swain hits mid-range shots at a good clip, and also looks decent from the 3 from the wing, though 1 per game should be his cap. However, he does it for a big reason: Miller tells him to shoot it. It’s largely mental.
Despite that, he still was a ++ for the game, per usual, being a complete menace on D (3 steals and 1 block), doing great work on the boards, (esp. defensively RB with 7), and 5 A/0 T.O.s. I may actually watch the NBA All-Stars in 2026 when he plays in that 1st vs 2nd year player's game.
Shout out to Hugley & Hunter for their D, and Maddox for his O and D. The bench is starting to ramp up at the right time. Credit to the coaching staff again.

KR,Kevin Reilly wrote: ↑Sat Mar 01, 2025 4:04 pmAnti-homer glad your pulling out all stops with the White MIAMI VICE suit. Have you and your suit showed up at any other games and more importantly did the suit get us a win? Creighton has the better team but we haven't really had a good win all year so we are due. Freemantle can't cover Kalkbrenner as he proved last game so I hope he doesn't pick up early fouls trying to guard him. We need Hugley in early to push Kalkbrenner out from the basket and maybe some zone? Yeah lol that's not happening. Be nice to get this one but I think we will just miss. We need about 25 points each from Freemantle and Maddox. Swain who I think can't keep anyone in front of him might be the answer for Ashworth because even if he gets beat off the dribble he might be able to recover and block some of Ashworths drives. Hope the students are loud because we need them tonight. I don't see us making the tournament so this is like it for us. Be great if the team proves me wrong. Go X
The white suit was a hit as expected. Shout out to the tailors from Temu.
I can to every game as a Mod but am usually sequestered in the Mod Suite entertaining. X is 4-0 with my presence this year at Cintas.
