Portal

Postby muskieman » Sun Mar 23, 2025 9:46 pm

Monday is the start of the portal.

The question will be, going forward, who stays and who leaves?
What will happen to Nyk Lewis and Jayden Forsythe? Will Sean take one or both to Texas?
Will X be building from ground zero, or will Ryan Conwell, John Hugley IV, Dailyn Swain, Cam Fletcher, Roddie Anderson, and Lassina Traore leave for greener and more stable pastures?

Leaving Xavier are Zach Freemantle, Jerome Hunter, Dayvion McKnight, Marcus Foster, Dante Maddox Jr., Brad Colbert and Bob Nunge. Four starters and one bench play who has contributed to the recent success.

X brought in 7 portal players last year. Will they have to rebuild an entire squad next year?

I hope all Portal information and rumors will reside here for quick reference
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

This is just a guess but I would think Swain and Conwell will leave. I would be surprised if either one of the freshman stay. The new coach will have his hands full with a late start and the team most likely gutted.

Correct. He will have his Hands full, and how many players want to be in a clusterfx%3? He better be a great coach with a rep that will draw players, or we will be a program rebuilding and might be at the bottom of the BE for a while.

Our President, Colleen Hanycz, had better be ready to support the program, and Christopher had better find a stud coach quickly. We reload, not rebuild, at Xavier. Don't take us back Colleen

As expected Trey Green has enter the portal. Another "gift" from "the coach who will not be named."

MM I have to Disagree on President Hanycz. From what I know she has been very supportive of the basketball and other sports programs. She has been saddled with some serious operating problems not of her causing and they are still ongoing. She had a very personal involvement in rehiring Sean Miller and was very tough on making the choice. She has been duped like the rest of us. Time to look forward.

What I hate almost as bad as losing a coach is listening to sports talk programs the following week talk about Xavier losing their coach when those same shows hardly ever talk about Xavier otherwise.

The whole team will enter the portal. Miller snaked us. He will snake Texas too. Will take a well stocked NIL fund and piss it away on bad defense. He cannot show his face in Cinci again.

An interesting player in the portal: Owen Freeman from Iowa, 6'10", was among the Big Ten's top shot blockers prior to his injury. Not a guy that stretches the D but something X has missed in a rim protector. X has had some luck with Iowa's big men

Familiar names in portal Lazar Djokovic and Jonathan Powell

Another interesting prospect Gabe Dynes, 7-foot-3, Dynes was third in the nation in blocked shots this year (3.03 per game).
