Moore might be the better three-point shooter, and Pozzatto the better driving player, although he has been touted as a three-level player. Some suspected Quincey and Souley because they were coming from "lower conferences."
The only people I look to for information about these players are RP and his staff. If they think Moore, Pozz, and Carroll will be impact players for X, I am fine with that until they prove otherwise. It is their job to get this team to jell sooner rather than later.
I have watched interviews of several players and the highlights of their teams in several games. Pozz seems to be a filler-up type player who can get 20-25 points at times, and Moore, when he gets going early, seems to be a go-to guy. Tre seems to be the "experience guy" who can settle down the team and is the only player to has been on a final four team.
ON A SIDE NOTE: Miami (OH) transfer wing Kam Craft has committed to Georgia Tech

Re: Portal
I think Carroll will make the most immediate effect based on his size, strength, and ability to drive to the hoop. I think he will be able to guard the 3 and 4. Pozzato will make the most lasting effect and I would not rule out Wright either. Moore can shoot as well. We need to get a PG because I'm good with Roddie, he just can't shoot. Considering our below avg PG play last year we need to improve. The transfer from Virginia I here will be better than expected.

Re: Portal
@Hops, I disagree re: your labeling of Fritschner as a rose-colored glass wearer, a la Joe Nuxhall. Last year, he undersold Conwell - and also the shooting ability of Foster. Also, Miller doesn't sugarcoat anything. I'm not saying I'm 100% comfortable with Anderson. I'm more comfortable since hearing their collective, positive assessment, but they still need another PG, at the very least to push Anderson. I hope they get an alpha because this team needs ones.
Again, to reiterate, and Kevin brought this up a few days ago, they also need an athletic wing who can defend, and score. I also want a more proven post presence because, bc as of now, there's no guy who is a proven bucket-getter.
If you didn't listen, Paul F hosted a Spaces podcast last night, and they had beat writers for all 3 players. To breifly characterize, they said:
Carroll: Said that he will be a better scorer on the wing, as he apparently played a lot at the 5-spot last year. He didn't start at the beginning, but his production earned him a spot in the starting lineup. My take: Good productivity for 22 min a game. Good motor too. He also said that Carroll has tremendous leadership skills, is very likeable and mature, and will be a glue guy.
Pozzato: The Writer said he played (and missed some games) due to a back injury last year. Said he is a 3-level scorer but needs to improve from 3. He said he thinks it's more a function of shot selection and thinks he is more of a 35% 3-point shooter, not the 31% he showed. He came late to school last year, so he didn't have a lot of work with the team. He was very highly recruited. He also said he is a very good athlete and will thrive in an up-and-down, open game. Gets to the hole very well. He said X fans will really like his personality.
Interestingly, he also saw Wright play too, since they're in the same conference. The inference is that he has a lot of Freemantle or Macura in him - like him if he's on your team type of guy, hate him if not. He said he is a more polished, 3-level scorer than Pozzato, but not as athletic.
Moore: The writer said that he took more of a subservient role bc he transferred onto a Tourney team with established alphas. He didn't start immediately but did so quickly after showing his scoring prowess. He said he does everything smoothly and can even handle the ball (not in the PG sense). He said he can light it up from anywhere and thinks he will blossom even more in a fast-paced, open-style offense, which Pitino runs.
My prediction: Moore will be the most productive guy out of this group, who I like a lot, even though none is an alpha.
Paul F thinks they'll get another PG and perimeter shooters. He wasn't sure if they'd get another post player.

Re: Portal
No one undersold Conwell based on his performance at ISU and Paul F certainly oversold us on Hughley, Maddox, and McKnight. I think he also picked Xavier to win 23/24 games Millers second year. I'm okay with jock sniffers like Paul, Lance m, and every Reds announcer. Trust me, we need another PG and one that can shoot a little bit. I'm hear Roddie can speed up game and defend, but I know he is not a shooter. I like Pitinos size, which we haven't had in a while.

Re: Portal
Look for the next piece to be a guard or wing. If they get a big man out of the final four, it will probably be a project or redshirt. Roddie might not be the shooter. I hear the coaches and Roddie are working on him, so we might see how good the assistants are at teaching players. He will never be a Souley, but he defends better, and if he takes care of the rock, distributes to the better shooters, and plays good D,, he will be a positive.

Re: Portal
X is in the mix:
Memphis center, Dain Dainja
6 9, 270. Very mobile for a big.
Stats/Gm Min 27.1 Pts 14.6 Reb 7.4 BL 1.3 FG 61.5 FT 58.6. FT % is the only glaring weakness. He would be a nice pickup. Runs the floor well too.

Edit: He apparently is one of many w/o eligibility who has requested another year. Best to probably move on.

Re: Portal
RP and staff have done a nice job picking up complementary pieces and guys who can deliver in one or two years. They have not delivered in bringing in any alphas. They need two. Last year, X had Free & Conwell to throw the ball to in a tight game when the game was on the line. That type of guy is absent on the 25-26' roster. I have all the confidence in the world that the next two will be of that Free-Conwell caliber. We have enough developmental pieces, role players, and three guys who could be the 3rd best scorer on an upper-tier BE team.
RP ain't in Kansas anymore.

Do any insiders know about an alleged Zoom call with X and Hunter Dickinson? Or maybe it was via Google Meets.

Re: Portal
The NCAA basketball transfer portal window closes Today, April 22nd. There are exceptions, but generally, in order to be eligible to play next season players have to submit their names by this date. Players have until the first day of fall classes to commit to a new school.
