Luke Murray ....coach
The internet data claims UConn assistant coaches' salaries are from $280,000 to over $600,000 per year. Murray is the top asst coach at UConn. If Miller was making $5 million a year, then there is plenty of monies available to get Murray at a good starting salary. Offer Murray a minimum of $2 million to $3 million a year to start with huge bonuses in all categories. Big bonuses at each level for performance and results. If Miller had a huge buy out, he had to pay to leave, even more monies available. Do not be stingy with the salary and bonuses. Obviously, my opinion does not matter LOL, the University will do what it thinks is best and also which supporters pony up monies. (No Mack.)

Re: Luke Murray ....coach
part of me thinks Luke Murray is simply "content" at UConn being the top asst. plenty of open jobs and haven't seen his name as a candidate for ANY of them so i'm guessing he's fine staying put. might not want the headache of what it entails being a head coach. may be like a Doug Wojcik with Izzo or Jeff Battle with Cooley. loyal dudes who are in it for right reasons, know how to coach, recruit, etc., and are good with that.

While onboard should Luke Murray be named the Coach, two items:
- Sean Miller’s buyout -$2 Million?? Salary $4.3 million? Don’t forget money will be needed for NIL.
- Whether good or bad as Head Coach, anyone who believes Luke Murray would serve longer than Chris Mack at Xavier is delusional. More comments to be made on another thread.

100% agree re: Murray. I'd take him after Mack, knowing that he may be gone with great success in 3-5 years. I'd still take a guy every time if I had confidence that he would win at a level X is accustomed to. Only about 15 programs have no concerns with their coaches leaving (i.e. Izzo, Mark Few, Matt Painter, McDermott). Hell, Hurley almost left for the Lakers (I know it isn't college, but still), Self almost left for Okl State, his alma mater, last year, despite having 100% job security and making $10M a year. Calipari leaves UK for Arkansas. Come to think of it, the number is probably way lower than 15.ChitownSteve wrote: ↑Tue Mar 25, 2025 3:37 pmWhile onboard should Luke Murray be named the Coach, two items:
