Commentary on Xavier's financial woes
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Commentary on Xavier's financial woes
People always try to equate the academic side to the athletic side. It's night and day.
Athletics are a major money maker, and honestly, the school may have been closed by now (probably an exaggeration), or in even more dire financial shape if it wasn't for basketball.
College sports are a business. Period. End of story. The two aren't equal.
In saying all that, this type of news is never good news, because the decision makers will be under pressure to show that "we're here to educate the youth", and that sports aren't as important. Alot of today's leaders will succumb to the pressure of the noise and make things even worse. This is where strong leadership is key. I have no clue if the current President is any good or not, but Father Graham and his predecessors have always understood basketball's place at XU.
