Re: Le Moyne game thread
N'diaye looks lost defensively and we gave up way too many baskets inside. Robinson needs to get the ball on the block or on lobs because he can dunk on anyone. Anderson played well on both ends. Philip needs to realize he is not a guard and give up the rock so we can push the ball. I was close to bench and Richard was not happy with Tre and I can't blame him. We don't realize that we are up by 8 or down by 8 when game is under six minutes. unfortunately, a team of role players currently.

Re: Le Moyne game thread
I know it's early and with all new players, there are going to be growing pains. But I am concerned about our rebounding (we don't block out), our baseline defense (we consistently get beaten), and our inside offense (we can't finish). We also don't hold onto the ball very well. I hope Pitino knows what he's doing, but there are limits to what this team can do without seemingly a single Big East caliber player on the team.
Xavier always goes to the NCAA tournament, and almost always makes some noise while there. Projecting anything less than that this season feels like folly--Eamonn Brennan (ESPN Summer Shootaround, 2012)

Re: Le Moyne game thread
I think we are all seeing the same negatives and are hoping most can be overcome by the addition of our two injured players and the rest of the non-conference games.
So far our offense (half court) is all perimeter (which seems to be the offense of the day for many teams). After three games I have seen no more than three passes going inside and these were to Tre Carroll. Finally, yesterday the offense went more uptempo and shot open 2’s and 3’s instead of perimeter passing and dribble drives. They appeared to have the green light and more confidence to shoot. Unfortunately with one front court player with his back to the basket and four on the perimeter, offensive rebounding was non-existent. We should not be getting out-rebounded by the buy-game teams. We have a good deal of size at every position.
I like the minute distribution because of the full court pickup and when Possata and Parnum return we will be able to continue that defense and not get tired near the end of the game. We have to always be in high gear to create easier baskets with more 2 on 2, 3 on 2, etc. Without a go-to guy who can create a shot, we have to have run and run faster.
I see potential, but we don’t have the luxury to develop on the job. We have to get more shots and multiple shot opportunities each time down. Last night we showed multiple players can make 3’s, but we all know there is a law of averages and 35% is probably the best we all do.
We have 4/5 non-conference games against major teams coming up. Hope we are making adjustments in time.

Would be nice to get some games on Fox. Even some Sports bars don’t get ESPN +. Would be surprised if they can hang with Santa Clara. Iowa could get Ugly. Joe & Bryan are trying to keep it positive but not easy. Conwell & Swain off to a good start. Maybe they can get Colby Jones to come back as he won’t much playing time with the Pistons

Well, after all the gnashing of teeth. 2-0. Up next is The Bronco. Interesting nickname. Maybe they should’ve gone with “The Fog” (Disclaimer: I had other suggestions).
