Ames and Chance Westry are who they are targeting allegedly.
It would be nice to get both as they are complementary in some ways, but I doubt they could play the floor at the same time.
Ames projects as a solid transfer target who can immediately contribute as a secondary scorer or sixth man. His three-point and free-throw shooting, combined with good ball security, are pluses, but his 2-point and defense are suspect. He could thrive in the right system

Chance Westry is clearly the superior transfer target; he offers elite playmaking, better overall efficiency, and higher upside. His size (6-6) and pure point guard skills make him valuable to any system needing primary ball-handling, and that would be X at the moment. If Richard uses them right, if he could get both, they would make a good one-two punch with Westry starting and Ames off the bench as instant three-point shooting.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

There are only 5,607 Division I players; more than half of the players (2,901) are in the portal as of tonight.

Xavier is in the hunt for about three guards and maybe a few more.

While they may have snagged Nwoko, they are still after another big man, especially after Pape is in the portal. Nwoko profiles as a high-major interior scorer with elite efficiency and ability to score, he also has decent defensive metrics against other SEC quality competition. He showed improvement from his first to his second year.

Because this is called a dead period and there are no on-campus visits, it may still not preclude another player from deciding. Seems like the agents do most of the deciding for some players. Nwoko had a do not contact on his portal information.

I am sure we might all like Tru Washington and see a connection with Richard, but UCLA, Louisville and that team called texas are or may be in the mix, and the YTG is asking for 5 million more of the dollars they have allocated for NILs.
Mman,

I don't think the other big they were targeting is in the picture anymore, with the imminent Nwoko signing. Assuming Kasson says (tradiiontal center), I'd prefer a 4/5 hybrid - a taller version of Hunter as a quiality, backup big.

As for Washington, I'm not oppossed to getting him at all, but just not right away. I'd rather explore a bit. I'm no expert of his game, but from what I've seen, and going off of his statistics, he is a tough defender and complementary offensive player. I'd like for X to explore others, like that 6'7" two guard from FAU.

I'm not a fan of blowing the NIL wad in the 1st week, unless they are sure fire studs, like Vandy's PG, who is probably asking for at least $3M.

Hard pass on Westry. Good scorer with size, but makes Anderson look like Bluiett from three. Anyway, he already is getting a lot of looks. I'd hate to pay a guy that much moeny who can't shoot from the outside.

AMES can shoot the threes, but is not a defensive player, and I know how you hate a matador guard. :)

Hey, I'd like for X to look at BJ DAVID of San Diego St. He has elite defensive impact, improved offensive efficiency, and excellent ball security. A BPM of 6.09. His two-way production and development curve suggests he could handle increased responsibility at a higher level. The combination of defensive excellence and complementary offensive skills makes him valuable.

Pair him with Ames or Westry or an Alex Wilkens, and we have the point satisfied for a reasonable amount
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Sam Kayser @KayserHoops
Santa Clara transfer Christian Hammond tells @LeagueRDY
he’s receiving interest from the following schools:

North Carolina
Cincinnati
USC
Xavier
Ole Miss
NC State

The 6-foot-4 guard out of Denver, Colorado had a big season for the Broncos. He averaged 15.6PPG, 3.0RPG, 2.5APG and 1.2SPG in 2025-26. Was named First Team All-WCC.

Jonathan Givony @DraftExpress
NEWS: UAB's Chance Westry will enter the transfer portal, he told DraftExpress.

The 6'6 point guard was named Second-Team All-AAC after leading the conference in assists (5.3) and averaging 15.7 points per game.

The 23-year-old has two years of NCAA eligibility remaining.

THIS GUY COULD GO QUICKLY

I'm officially on the Westry bandwagon.

After watching his film and flying down on the private moderator jet to see him work out in person, he gives me strong Kadary Richmond vibes. He’s got a polished game inside the 3-point line, a smooth mid-range, and attacks the rim under control. He also has good positional size and an excellent assist-to-turnover ratio. Let’s sign him and round out the starting five with a 3-point specialist.
