Darnell Harris. Leading LaSalle (and 9th in the A-10) at about 16/gm mostly from 3 -- averaging nearly 4 per game.

Then it's SLU's Kevin Lisch, leading SLU at about 14/gm.

St. Joe's star is Pat Calathes at 16/gm. But at 6-10 I don't think Stan will draw that assignment. Since Calathes is a bit of a combo, I think we'll see Derrick on him.

But then comes Leemire Goldwire and the 49ers. Goldmire, a flat-out scorer (I'm sure Byron loves him) averages 20ppg.

With Stan's defensive play all season, and Derrick's defensive play of late, I am not worried about any of these games based purely on their scorers. Now I have concerns given their locations (and St. Joe's in general), but defensively I feel very confident in our guys.

Stan is, in my opinion, this teams MVP. His offensive production hasn't been off the charts but is very good. His defense is winning games, plain and simple. His ability to stop some of the best scorers in the country has been huge for this team.

I think a running tab would be something we need to keep on the board. If you look at some of the games if Stan does not do the D that he has done we might have another 3 losses.

I think the job he did on Indiana's Gordon is lost in the foul shots Gordon made toward the end of the game.

5 points seems to be the most common number and all those players the next game had typical numbers so it shows how Stan impacted them.

Many on this board jumped all over Dedrick Finn in his senior year because he had "lost his shot." Many could not see how D had really focused on his defense to the detriment of his offense and he was roasted.

The point is this. Stanley is going through the same struggles with his shot. Know why? It's damn hard on the legs, no matter how conditioned an athlete you are, to chase a guy around the court, fight through screens and stay stuck like glue to him. That stuff takes a toll when you sell out defensively like that and the legs are your shot launcher. That is why a lot of guys just won't buy into the defense- they need the scores and the accolades that come with it and won't put in the effort. Result, nice individual stat line but team loss.

Please, folks. Don't any one jump on Stanley for his offense being somewhat off this year. He's sacrificing some offense for the team's greater good. If anyone ever had any doubts, Stanley Burrell is a winner and a leader by example. Dante and Adrion will do well to learn the lessons that Hammer is teaching this year.

Couldn't agree more, MOR. I don't know if it's been said before, but even if it has been it was worth repeating. Playing D is infinitely harder on the body and mind than playing O.

And with the offensive options of this year's team in particular, Stan is at his best as a teammate when he concentrates on the D.

MOR hit it on the head about the D. I think Stans shot will come around and has shown signs. You can not score 20 or even 10 if you only take 1 shot in the first half like at UMass.
