Transfer eligibilty (Crawford)
I read an article by Dana O'Neil of ESPN on transfers. Will Harris transfered from Virginia to Albany as a hardship transfer and the NCAA ruled that he will not have to sit out the year. Tyler Smith (last year) transfered from Iowa to Tennessee and played right away, again with the hardship rule established in 1991. Now Herb Pope wants immediate eligibilty from New Mexico State to Seton Hall as does Keon Lawrence from Missouri to Seton Hall. Alex Stephenson from UNC to USC and Matt Pilgram from Hampton to Ky. Julian Vaughn from Florida State to Georgetown. Crawford, Bassett and Holman from Indiana to Xavier, UAB and Detroit. Vaughn and Harris were released by their former schools. In a previous post it was stated that Crawford would have stayed at Indiana but was shown the door by Crean. To me, that should be enough to allow him to play this year. Some coaches, mainly Boeheim, want the rule overturned. Once again, coaches can leave a program, but the players can not. It would seem to me that all the players mentioned above should be either all okayed or all denied. What do you all think?

completely agree. I think if SOME players have to sit out then ALL players have to sit out. It's only fair and it stops all of the complaining from different coaches and teams.
As far as coaches moving around before the end of their contract....i believe that a contract is a contract. You can only leave if your contract is up. No more of this stay 2 or 3 years of a 6 year deal and be gone. that's BS...you don't see construction workers moving around every other year do ya?

If a construction worker can DOUBLE his pay and enjoy what he is doing I bet you would see them changing ALL THE TIME>XU-WKUPatter06 wrote:you don't see construction workers moving around every other year do ya?

I have no idea dbrownthrows. It is killing me too.
I check here 5x a day to see if there are any updates. I am mentally deteriorating, bit by bit, check-in by check-in.

Re: Transfer eligibilty (Crawford)
i'm slowly learning more and more on this situation. Appearantly the NCAA might be waiting to see if they place any sanctions on Indiana. Also Sean said it might be a few weeks until we here, after the IPFW game. All that being said we probaly won't have him for the Puerto Rico and maybe not even for the Duke game. So even if he is able to be eligible this year it might not be in time for the meat of non conference schedule. What a bummer the NCAA is a truly disorganized committee who is just wasting this poor kids time.

Thanks. Good info if not the best of news. Yet, to have him even after the Duke game would be excellent news.

The more I think about this situation, I'm wondering if the NCAA isn't delaying their decision so that Crawford ends up missing all, or most, of the first semester, so the NCAA can extract their pound (or half-pound) of flesh while still allowing him to play this year.

I said the same thing last night! Is it worth it to have Crawford for half or less than half of the season so they let us know sometime in Dec. or say by the 1st of the year...then it is up to X to decide to hold him out and the NCAA gets their way and they can say;Mr. Neutral wrote:The more I think about this situation, I'm wondering if the NCAA isn't delaying their decision so that Crawford ends up missing all, or most, of the first semester, so the NCAA can extract their pound (or half-pound) of flesh while still allowing him to play this year.
"we let him play but X said they would hold him out", Then those that don't follow it on a daily basis will say, well X could have played him!
Last I heard the soonest would be after Thanksgiving....but they keep putting it off to a future date. Heck it could happen at any time....almost like when will we die, no one human knows and seeing how the NCAA likes to act like GOD, well you get my point.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Transfer eligibilty (Crawford)
that is a pretty bad situation if we were to be put there. It's hard to decide that because on one hand you have D Brown who may or may not be here, and CJ and BJ. If they all graduate are we better trying to go for it this year with Crawford for half a year or are we better off after these 3 are gone and hope that Crawford stays 3 years??? Just a new topic to think about
