Funny Isn't It?

After getting pasted by Temple the board is wraught with threads and posts that are tantamount to the end of the world. Last night, X wins a very tough road game against a team whose only losses are to X on their home court in the last few years and what do we get? Threads about "What's up with this team", "Doubts", etc. Not one thread that deals with how the team withstood a run in the final four minutes that got GW to within one point. But, they got the job done and won a ROAD game. Lavendar, CJ and BJ all redeemed themselves from the Temple game and were mainstays in that win.
Let's hear it for our Muskies fellow Muskie fans!! Great game last night fellas!
GOX!!

I was impressed that X didn't cave when GW went on runs to cut X's 10 or 12 point leads during the game. Drew was key in the second half after CJ got things going in the first. I'm still waiting for Stan the Man to get his go-for-the-jungular outside shot again like when he was an underclassman. However, if I have to keep his awesome D and let BJ be the outside assasin, I can live with that!

That is how games are on the road. No matter who you play, you will be in a fight because they are going to shoot better on their home floor. Everyone in the country has the same road problem XU has

We didn't play as well as we did when we killed K state and Virginia, so people are freakin out.
Truth is that GW came out to play against us. I don't care what crappy teams GW lost to this season. They came out to play against us, cut our lead to 1 by hitting 3 after 3 with just over a minute to go, and we responded.
The Temple loss hurt, but I was happy last night.

Me too. Get used to close road games, because everyone will give X its best shot.

vee, I was at a party and couldn't post during or after the game, but (and this is from a guy who didn't see the game, but listened to the last few minutes on my car radio, and read the postgame writeups on X's site and in the Enquirer), I'm not sure what to say about last night's W.
Yes, X badly needs road W's, and they made the plays down the stretch needed to secure the victory. But X also gave up double-digit leads in both halves, and was a spun-out 3 from losing the lead in this one.
I think X still has to develop more of a killer instinct. Maybe last night will be a springboard, but I don't know if hanging on against a 5-7 team really means we're over the hump re our road problems.

Gary, I DVR'd the game and didn't have the guts to watch it until I knew that X won the game. So, when it got close at the end, there was no stress because I knew the ending. Great way to do it as far as I am concerned.

Give X credit for not losing heart in a tight game on the road (not the best venue either). Thye could of easily faltered. That said, they must continue to play hard inside of ten minutes of a close game.

So, vee, what are your thoughts now that you've watched the game? Did GW play up to our level? Did we play down to their level? Do you think X's hanging on the for win will be something they can call on in future games?

I think that GW played up to X's level. The reason I say so is that X was winning nearly the entire game and GW was chasing them with good offensive sets and shots. There were a couple of defensive lapses on XU's part, but for the most part X played a very solid game. They were playing inside out versus the zone and Drew was getting everyone involved. There were a couple of times in both halves that X had 9-11 point leads, but GW came back. When they did, it wasn't that XU went into a drought shooting, or that they played dribble, dribble out along the perimeter. Rather, it was GW taking missed shots and scoring from their offensive set. All-in-all, I think that GW played up to XU's level.
