Musketeer Madness

A while back (on the old board I think) I posted a request for prayers for a local (Newark OH) young man who has been fighting cancer. His name is Devin Reid. Anyway I tend to follow his journal and was delighted to see the following as part of his entry today:

I don't know if I mentioned this but a while back Xavier sent us a media guide, an autographed basketball, and a bobble head, thought I should mention that because it's pretty cool stuff and we are thankful for it. Thanks for all the prayers and support.

This is just another reason to be proud of our Xavier roots. There are far more important things in life than your college basketball team winning a key game, and sending well-wishes and notes of encouragement to folks like Devin are among them. I didn't see the initial request that "somebody" made, but I'll definitely be among those who heed this current one.

Thanks Nick. I read your message to Devin and it was very well spoken. I do know that he graduated from Newark Catholic where the quarterback on their last year's state champion football team accepted a scholarship to Xavier ... for baseball!
