Lunardi: XU/Stanford battle for #2 seed

I'm not an ESPN Insider, so I couldn't read the whole article, but this was the intro to a Lunardi column:
Let's empty the mailbag as best we can:
Should Xavier be a No. 2 seed over Stanford? The SOS [strength of schedule] and records speak for themselves. At the time of this projection, Xavier was No. 24 vs. No. 120 for the Cardinal.

Stanford's SOS is a joke and XU's RPI is 6. Assuming we win out, we'll definitely lock up a 2 seed.
If the selection committee is deadlocked and can't decide which team deserves a 2 seed, I recommend a battle royal mascot fight: The XU Blob vs. Stanford's frickin' tree.
We bring in Don King to promote it and milk the NCAA corporate partners for all they're worth.
GO X!

At the end of the day all things relatively equal...sos withstanding...I'm worried X will get the shaft at the hands of a big 6 team with NCAA history....
I still think X could easily drop either the last game ever at hawk hill...or atleast that little gym...or in the a10 tourney, that would put us at a 3-5 more realistically, win out and it's a 3, lose 1 or 2 and its a 4-6...JMHO

I think even if they lose a game, they remain a 3. That is as long as the one game is St. Joe's. They lose to anyone else and I think you're right, 4 may be what they get. On the other hand, win out and it would be hard to argue against them getting a 2. For all the talk of a 1, I believe that is out of the question barring a collapse by one of the big schools.

Hard to believe that the coaches have Stanford at 8 and X at 11. Then again their last three games should take care of them.

Has anyone ever seen Stanford's non-conference schedule? What a joke!
8-18 Harvard W
12-15 Northwestern State W
20-7 Cal. Santa Barbara W
@7-18 Northwestern W
@17-10 Siena L
10-14 Yale W
6-20 Colorado State W
4-21 Sacramento State W
@10-16 Colorado W
14-13 Santa Clara W
@15-11 Texas Tech W* Their "Signature Win"
13-15 Fresno State W
That would be an impressive overall record of 134 - 178.

the irony here is stanford is one of a few teams that feature a legit low post presence, or a couple of them...we have not palyed a team with tons of interior size that wants to pack it into the half court offense, the oner thing X lacks is size to compete with these teams AT THEIR GAME...againts a legit front court we need love to step up and be big, this is ok, just not one of x's stong suits... Maybe I'm forgetting someopne but have we played a team with a legit traditional back to the basket big man? beasley is just a player from all over the court...im talking about something a kin to the twins at stanford...
that said, x is just the type of team that could dictate their own style of play and push the ball, renedering those big men useless, but in a slow deliberate man to man game not sure who would mark their #4 or what we would do if love got in foul trouble??
X is deep, just not in the front court and this is a fact

Agreed 10-20-30, that's why I wouldn't want to see us end up in the same bracket as UNC or UCLA because they feature two of the best bigs in the nation and I think they could give us problems. X can play with anyone but I would to see them wind up in the same bracket as duke or texas because neither of those teams have a true center which would be a great matchup for us.
