What I found interesting were two facts.
First, no one has us listed as a #1 seed. We are the last #2 seed and the first in the list not to get a #1 by anyone. Kansas, who is the next-to-last #2 seed, has five #1 seeds in various bracket projections.
Second, this means there is no one below us that anyone considers a possible #1 seed.
I interpret all of this as meaning we have a REAL shot at getting a #1 seed. Of course we need to win out and also need a lot help from our friends, but we are on the verge of being considered A #1 SEED!
This is all terribly exciting. Do we really grasp the significance here? There is actually a real debate on this site concerning our chances of getting a #1 seed. This late in the season!

I apparently do not interpret the data the same way you do . . . I see this as saying that there are currently 7 teams vying for 4 number 1 seeds. We are not one of them. Even if we win out, we are not going to get on that top line. The chances of 4 of those 7 teams ahead of us screwing up enough not to deserve a number 1 are slim.
Call me a naysayer or a negative person, but I see ZERO chance of us getting a number 1 seed.

Even if we win out through the A10 tournament I'm not sure I see us getting a #1 seed. Part of that may be the dreaded 'mid-major' label and the usual big name schools getting the press coverage. Regardless, a 2 or 3 is awesome.

whatever seed X gets these guys are going to kick some 'major' butt. Hope they can get healthy and stay healthy. Miller has his coaching rythmn and the team is running like a well oiled machine. won't see a #1

Hey 84, Sean and Bobo already said we weren't mid-major.

I dunno about the chances of a #1 seed, but Lunardi was just on ESPN and had XU as a 2 seed in the Midwest bracket (Detroit).
That would be much better than getting a 1 seed out in Phoenix or something like that. I am rooting for a 2 seed in Detroit.

I agree, we may not want to be a 1 seed out West. Let's hope for the 2 in Detroit. Also I could not take Bill Packers whinning on Selection Sunday.

Screw a number one seed. There are too many variables and it's just not likely to happen. Fun to talk about, but in reality just not that probable.
As far as the 2/3 debate, I know we merit a 2. RPI, SOS, AP/ESPN, margin of victory, # of double-figure scorers, etc, etc, etc...the resume is there for a 2 seed. All X can do is go out and win our remaining games and leave the committee with no doubt about our merits.
I think what would be interesting would be for this team to get a 3. Not because of the match ups, or what region we would be in, but because of how pi$$ed off they would be.
I will guarantee you the players and coaching staff feel they are a two seed. If there was any way to channel any additional motivation out of this team for a deep run it would be to disrespect them.
IMHO, a 3 seed does just that.
