He probably does, he having played in the NBA and all. He asked, during the telecast, why Miller doesn't let Lavender rest in order to allow the ankle heal. You must admit that Miller's approach is unique.

You must admit that Miller's approach to the situation defies common sense.
Let's see now. The Xavier trainer gave a pretty good explanation in the Enquirer about Drew's ankle and what stage of his rehab he was in. Of course Hubert Davis and his ding dong partner are far more knowledgeable than the Xavier trainer.
Let's face a few facts here people. Xavier did not pull a Temple. The entire team defended to the end and worked their butts off.
On several occasions in the first half I saw take layups that were goaltended or a foul committed and no points were scored. But that sh!t happens.
Fortunately, there is another game in two days and a chance to end the regular season on a high note on Senior Night.
I don't know about you people but I got damn sick and tired of hearing about St. Joseph's gym which is gonna be shut down and remodeled.
Oh, and if Maertelli had to resort to telling his team "Remember 2004," he is far more desperate than I imagined. I also thought he was fighting for something which may not happen because they just might lose to Dayton.
Anyway, go Xavier, spank the Spiders.

i AGREE with "Q". Everyone is entitled to their opinion and Brown made his because he needed to say something. I guess he thought he would sound intelligent....it didn't.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Do you think H. Brown knows anything about sprained ankles?
the fact that Hubert knows about sprained ankles does not mean he knows ANYTHING about Drew's. He is/was basing his conversation on what he has read. I would think Drew's performance had more to do with rust from sitting out for the vast majority of practices than anything, but who knows for sure.
However, I trust Mulcahy and Miller's assessments over those of a guy that has seen Drew a handful of times this year. I chalk up this loss to missed shots that have fallen all year. If X shoots a little better from field and line, it's a W. Good comeback to get to where it ended - only wish it would have started a little sooner. They showed heart down the stretch. A "good loss", if that can be. Really had to like Lavender in the last minute making that third 3 and being aggressive. Maybe he got some confidence as well.
Beat Richmond.

I think drew is getting better. Did you notice that hard drive to the basket where he dished it out, that is something that he has been tentative about recently. We really need him to be able to take the ball inside the arc to be as good of a team as we can be.

Hubert Brown is not a medical professional... heck, he's not even a professional sports commentator IMO.

Thats because Hubert Brown doesn't exist. I think you're thinking of Hubert "OOOO" Davis, one of ESPN's worst color men

How does it make sense, then, that he didn't play tonight? Won't he be rustier than ever now?

Or you can ask Plaxico Burress...
There is a stage when the injury cannot get any worse but will not improve significantly for a while, so the option is to sit out the rest of the season or play with the pain. That's not an easy choice, and the pain can manifest itself differently in every player. I'm not judging Drew -- it may just be unbearable for him. But rest also may not help all that much.
For what it's worth, I'm not a doctor. But I do have experience in this regard, having played sports (and suffered ankle sprains) my entire life.

It's easy to get Hubie Brown and Hubert Davis mixed up. One's an older white guy with curly hair who only does NBA games, and the other's a younger black guy who played college and pro ball, and only does NCAA games on ESPN.
