Am I the only annoyed with last night's game call? There are 3 things that chapped my assets...

1. Too much emphasis on Drew's ankle: I understand mentioning it once or twice, but Hubert Davis brought it up about every 5 minutes last night. If I heard one more time about how X isn't capable of getting an efficient shot because Drew Lavender is not at 100% I was going to puke!

2. The 2nd half Jameer Nelson interview: Hey jackholes, there's a game going on. Focus!

3. Seeding! The idiot Hubert Davis actually mentioned how X was unlikely to get a 2 seed because the upper seeds are "usually reserved for top conferences". WOW! I thought team's were considered, not conferences for the NCAAs. Does this officially mean there's a bias towards BSC schools in tournament selection?

I understand that ESPN does mark a nationally televised game. This is obviously good for the program. However, in my opinion, Fox Sports and CSTV is a much better game call.

I resolved to watch the game on mute as soon as I saw that Hubert was doing the color for the game (he's the same guy who consistently ranks us lower than any other analyst on the ESPN Power 16). I wasn't surprised by his comments since he's definitely not a big fan of our team, but I agree it got annoying. His comments about our inability to get good shots due to Drew's ankle were particularly annoying since I thought we got good looks all night.

I agree. Xavier shot almost 50% from the field. The difference in the game was at the free throw line. Josh and CJ were consistantly able to get the ball inside, but, they kept getting their shots blocks. That was not a point guard problem. I saw X take very few bad shots.

I think they showed St. Joe's tourny resume 6 times and said the same things everytime. I did like Lunardi's bow-tie though.

I pay little attention to the commentary on any game unless the person knows what they are talking about ... and those persons are few and far between just think of the ones they throw at you.

That said, I love Bill Rafferty, Peter gillan, and yeah, even The Rat ... because they do a great job of it.

But, how ESPN can spend ten minutes talking to Jameer (who by the way appeared to want to be somewhere else) with nine days to go before Selection Sunday and have Joe Lunardi (sp) fifty feet away and never even ask him what time it is, show what a p$ss poor production it was. And, I for one would have loved to have heard from Dr Jack about college basketball today, and college basketball then.

And one last thought .. did the two talking heads even really explain how St Joe's were going to overcome a 79 SOS and a 63 RPI to make the dance?

No they didn't. They just let Davis do his thing. They showed their damn resume so many times and didn't ever talk to Lunardi to shed some light on it. They are not getting an at-large unless they can improve their RPI and SOS. Would have helped if they could have played better against SLU.

Did they show Calathes Twin brother? I can't remeber.....

I raged on about the coverage last night so it's pointless to proceed.

I think there was a few minutes at the end of the game where they actually showed the players between shots of the Calathes family.

Lunardi did look sharp in the tuxedo and bow tie, but how does leaning against the bleachers fit in with his job as color analyst, which WWL noted every time they showed him? The first time I thought maybe he was getting ready to do some halftime emcee-ing, but he was in the same spot the entire second half.
