While watching NC - Duke game it became apparent to me that they do the same dumb stuff we do. I must admit before watching this entire game, I was a not very confident in us playing a team of their stature, but not now. I still don't get Tyler Hansbrough. Saw him get schooled by Oden three years ago in Indy. But I'll start drinking the "Dicky V" koolade this morning.

Re: Thoughts on NC - Duke game
I have to admit that sometimes dumb plays seem less dumb because the uniforms say North Carolina or Georgetown, but they throw up the same wacky shots A10 players do.
And every time I watch Hansbrough, I keep expecting to see some surefire NBA player, but I don't. He's good, don't get me wrong, but if he was at X, he wouldn't be "TYLER HANSBROUGH!".

If Drew is healthy, we can beat Duke,UNC and any one else out there. That seems like a big IF now though.I'm not sure we'll see the real Drew anymore.Hope I'm wrong.

Bill, glad to see your dose of reality. Good for all MM posters and readers to ponder - yes other teams do "dumb" things too. Even the coaches.
Our hopes still ride on a healthy ankle for Drew.

I kept watching ESPN hoping for some coverage of our game. Instead, all I saw was in depth analysis of said ACC game. Yes, I know they are ranked #1 and #5, but quit acting like it was the "battle for all ages" and give us some pub!

I think big ol' number 50 for UNC is an animal. There is no way he shouldn't have gone to the free throw line at all last night. Pulling down 15 boards and getting 16 points the way he did was incredible, and he does it night in and night out.

what does three years ago have to do with now?
michael jordan got cut his freshman year in high school, i wonder if people were wondering why he was a mcdonalds all-american three years later.
i'm no fan of unc, but hansbrough is a heckuva
player. the kid is like a bulldog, he just keeps coming.
you either haven't watched him play much in college, or you are a tad bit "off" in the head.

3 refs had the best place to 'watch the game' do they get paid for that?letsgoxu wrote:I think big ol' number 50 for UNC is an animal. I disagree. I think it's just that you're looking for something different, perhaps more flashy. Hansbrough isn't going to put up highlight-reel dunks every week (like one of our own...), but he is THE best college basketball player on THE best college basketball team in THE best college basketball conference in THE best country. Period.Mr. Neutral wrote:And every time I watch Hansbrough, I keep expecting to see some surefire NBA player, but I don't. As a mere 6-9 junior, he leads the ACC at 23.1 ppg and 10.5 rpg, is 2nd in FG% at nearly 55% from the field, and connects on 81% of his FT attempts (good for 10th in the conference). He does it on both ends of the floor -- leading the ACC in both defensive (6.6) and offensive (3.9) boards per game.
Unlike Michael Beasley, I'm not sure I see Hansbrough being a standout NBA star, but as we all know, the college game and the pro game are different. But he's a winner and a leader. Trust me, he'd stand out in our navy and white uniforms even more than he stand out in Carolina blue.

Hansbrough's clearly a very good, tough player; I'm not arguing that. I just don't think he's as good as he's made out to be. Others can, and do, disagree.
