XU was the ONLY Elite 8 team to.....

Postby Brian Fantana » Sun Mar 30, 2008 9:35 pm

Play 4 "BCS" schools in the tourny so far.

3-1 vs the SEC champs; Big Ten Runner ups; Huggies West Virginians who had been to 2 straight sweet 16s and UCLA.

not too shabby!

Not sure those facts are straight ("the only Elite 8 Team).
UCLA beat Xavier, Michigan State, Davidson. Stanford (thrice)
Washington State (twice), Arizona (twice), USC (twice), Oregon
(twice), & Texas A&M. All those teams were in the tourney

I'm pretty sure the poster meant in the actual tournament Xavier was the only team out of all the Elite Eight teams to play their 4 tournament games against teams from BCS conferences.

...have a player breakdown crying, like a little girl, at half court before the game ended and have to be carried off the court. WTH!

you try dedicating 4 years of your life, putting as much time and effort as Stan did towards this program in trying to achieve a certain goal that no other team in program history had ever done, then have it staring right back in your face, the utter reality that the dream you worked so hard for, would not come true. not a surprising reaction for someone who put his heart on his sleeve every game, especially this season.

It was that same emotion, that helped Stan give us four great years of basketball at XU. Give me a player who has that burning desire to win, they will usually play to thier full potential and more.

Same goes for the "crybaby" Pete Rose , crying like a baby on first base after 4192.

So Stan was the only player in the whole tournament putting that much time and effort into his team? Because he was the ONLY player carried off the court in tears, DURING THE GAME. It was embarrassing to the Xavier Nation and will only serve as a punch line for future UDump clones.

stewiex, are you seriously trashing a player for caring? he loves the game, his teammates, and the school he played for. there's absolutely nothing wrong with that, i just wish every player was the same way. you'd never see anything even close to that in the nba and that's why it sucks so much. get a life and quit trying to rag on a college student.

carried off the floor? Your comments are foolish.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.
