Re: Dayton Getting smacked
While Dayton is falling St.Joe's stock is rising.I think it will hurt the league a little though if UD falls apart here.By the time they get healthy it might be too late for them.No depth at all is killing them.

Taking joy in Dayton's problems only makes us look petty.Filthy Chilean wrote:BR finishes with 20pts. Amazing recovery from his death bed just two nights ago.
Oh, and dayton gets worked, again. Bye bye ranking and any ounce of respect.
Frankly, I don't know why the hell we even give Dayton another thought except for the 2-3 times we play them. Seriously, do you think Duke fans give a crap about Clemson or that Georgetown fans talk about Rutgers except for just before their meetings? Hell no!
At any rate, it's undeniable that they lost 2 starters and it's also undeniable that their best player is pretty darn sick. Say what you will, but we wouldn't fare all that well with those handicaps either. Sure, we've had to replace one starter for significant portions of each of the last few years, due to injury, but that's not exactly having to replace 3 of our top 6, which is what UD has had to do. Nothing against them, but imagine for a moment what we'd look like if Bronson and Graves were our 7 and 8 guys instead of our 9 and 10.
And all this talk about Gregory is ridiculous. Unless he's still got eligibility left, there's only so much he can do with his seriously depleted, inexperienced roster.

Re: Dayton Getting smacked
I feel sorry for Dayton. However, a Dayton fan posted that a healthy UD team "would beat Xavier by 10 points." How? Dayton, before they played Xavier, only averaged 60 points on the road while the Muskies were averaging over 80 at home. Forgive me for sounding smug, but no way does UD win by 10. Heck, UD's best performance on the road was versus Louisville @ 70 points, with a healthy Chris Wright, Charles Little, and Brian Roberts, whom were all major contributors to the win.
When your season takes a turn for the worst and your high expections are shattered, you play the "what if" game. Because that's all you got! No NCAA for UD, unless they can win four games in four days at the A-10 tournament. Not likely, because UD's bench isn't very deep and the A-10 has many contenders this year. If UD is lucky the NIT will show some pity.

Yes, taking joy in UD's misfortune may be petty but even when we beat them when they were healthy last year, they still beefed about the refs, claimed they passed X as a program, and even after the smackdown in the tournament, they were still claiming they could beat Xavier.
I hate to see them falling because it does hurt the A10. It won't hurt X because of our OOC schedule, but it still hurts the A10.
There are more important things.like beating UMass.

Re: Dayton Getting smacked
I know. But is that any different than us? We got our asses handed to us on the road at ASU when we were completely healthy. We still think we would kick their asses 8 out out 10 times (at least I do). I think that's just being a fan. I guess I just can't get myself up to even care what UD fans think. I don't really consider them in our league. Kinda like I don't really care what my 7th grade girlfriend is doing anymore, either.wkrq59 wrote:Yes, taking joy in UD's misfortune may be petty but even when we beat them when they were healthy last year, they still beefed about the refs, claimed they passed X as a program, and even after the smackdown in the tournament, they were still claiming they could beat Xavier.

I honestly don't take pride in UD's sudden misfortunes. However, I am tired of the whole Roberts was sick BS. Brett Favre has started 252 consecutive games w/ more injuries than freaking Evil Knevil, so STF up. The guy wasn't feeling good; we all get it. Take your loss and move on.

<<If they lose tonight do they fall out of the top 25?>>
If UD's still in the top 25 next Monday, they should discontinue the top 25.
