Re: Aleksander Vezenkov signs with XU
X is looking at a wing and center for next year not this year.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Re: Aleksander Vezenkov signs with XU
It sure seems to me that the biggest unknown that will have an effect on our recruiting for the next two years could be the development of James Farr. He is tall with terrific length and can stretch the defense with his outside shot. With three years left to add muscle, low post skills and basketball IQ, he could be a key. I think he can be much more than a role player. He is just raw at this point.
It took Duncan three years to realize that he could play inside and it took Jason Love three years to become a real defensive and rebounding factor. I look at Farr as a Duncan style with a Love body. It almost appears in many of the posts that he is the forgotten man. Let's not count him out.

As for Farr, forget about playing inside and/or outside. Needs to play at both ends of the court.

I believe that Farr can go as far as Farr is willing to go. If he changes his body toning and strengthening, becoming a basketball player's body rather than a person whoes strength does not match his size and whoes body is less than finished, he could be someone that will give temas fit because he is a wide body and he has a touch for the outside shot. The one thing Farr brings to the table beside his shooting is his rebounding. His length is good and if he lost the baby fat he could run the floor that much better. I hope the light comes on and he takes this summer to make himself into all he can be.thecoach wrote:As for Farr, forget about playing inside and/or outside. Needs to play at both ends of the court.

JD did contribute as a frosh, but not a lot. He averaged 6ppg in 14mpg, then 9ppg as both a soph and junior, before finally averaging double figures (12.4ppg) as a senior.

MM, so Farr is supposed to teach himself how to play defense, remember plays and positioning, plus play hard at all times?

Not many frosh average 6 points, so I would say that is a contribution. MM, I did read your thread and I don't believe that if "toning" his body will make Farr learn the plays and defense which is his issue.

The exercise of putting starting lineups together with guys who you have not seen(and in some cases) have not played in a year or a division 1 game for that matter is loaded with pitfalls. The pieces involved may look good on paper, but defense if generally lacking in newer players. Therein lies the reality of having a very young roster.
