I understood there would be struggles at the beginning for them, but you really had to be there and just see some of the turnovers we had tonight. Holloway would try and make a Steve Nash pass through three defenders for an easy steal or guys would throw the ball to press row just to make sure Dow was alert. i was ready for mistakes, but it was a bit much.

Now I have plenty of faith that Sean and Chris Mack can show these guys their mistakes and they can correct them fairly quickly, but it will take some time before our new guys can play under control and at the same pace as the returning starters.

According the the box score it was even up at 13 each with two team turnovers

I believe the team will fair well this year. However we need Craword to be eligible to make a good run at the end of the year. I love the freshman. Question to the stat people...What the highest point average for a freshman in Xavier's history? I believe Frease will set the new bar at the end of the season.

I don't have any media guides or anything in front of me, but I could almost guarantee that Frease won't set the new bar. I think he got more playing time in the exhibition than he normally will for the first few games, and I would be very surprised if at the end of the year he averages more then 10 points a game. I fully expect him to be a 1000 point scorer for us and have a big impact, but I expect mild sucess for this year.

For a first year player(playing four years ) Larkin i probably tops around 17 pts. But Bob Quick is probably high at around 20 points average per game back when freshmen did not play varsity.
I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Actually, after the game I caught Sean talking to Joe and Byron on the radio and he said he wants to get Frease MORE minutes than what he got against Findlay. I think Kenny will play around 20 minutes a game and potentially more as the season goes on. In 16 minutes, he scored 10 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and blocked 4 shots. Sean was very pleased with Kenny.

I'm skeptical about Kenny getting more playing time then he did during the exhibition, at least during the beginning of the year. I thought Love played really nice except for his fouls, and I think he should be playing about 25 minutes a game. He showed some nice offensive moves and he can definitely rebound the basketball. Kenny is an impact player for us this year, but I think Big Love is just more developed and understands our offensive and defensive schemes better right now. With a little more maturity, Kenny should get 15-20 minutes a game, but right now I think 15 should be about his maximum unless there is foul trouble. I'm not trying to be down on Kenny, I am just high on Big Love at this point and he has proven a lot to me.

As I said it before Freeze will set the highest points per game for a freshman. Love is good, but Freeze is the real deal. Watch his foot work and the use of his lower body on the block...I have not seen that type of footwork since D West.

I feel a chill in the air... time for the big Freeze!

I thought B Redford played pretty well; he played within himself, and seems to have the quickness necessary to play adequate defense. His shooting stroke is all that's been advertised. Of his first eight made shots (FT and 3-pt), only 2 have grazed the rim, the others swishes. What's scary is that a very good source tells me B Walsh is just as good a shooter. Look out anyone that tries to zone X.
