the vintage xavier games on vhs/dvd collectors thread

a friend of mine acquired several vhs tapes of ventage xavier games, and i'm in the process of converting them to dvd. i can now say that i have a new hobby (not that i needed another one) and that's collecting old xavier games on either vhs or dvd. i'm starting this thread to find out if anyone else has this same hobby. who out there has what?? and are you interested in anything i've got??

here is most of what we have (i'm doing this from memory so i may miss some)

-1986 mcc tournament vs loyola. the quality of the tape is not the best, and a few minutes didn't copy over, but 37 minutes out of the 40 minute game are watchable. this predates the three point line.

-1987 ncaa tournament vs missouri. most of the game is decent quality considering the age, but a few minutes of the game didn't copy over. the first minute or two is also kind of shotty, but other than that it's watchable.

-1987 ncaa tournament vs duke. the first half is okay, but most of the second half is shot.

-1990 ncaa tournament vs kansas state, georgetown and texas. the tape is shot, which is a damn shame. most of the first half against georgetown copied, as did most of the first half against kansas state. i haven't tried to copy the texas game yet. i'd like to get a better copy of this if anyone has it.

-1991 ncaa tournament vs nebraska. with the exception of the first few minutes, the game is in good shape.

-1992 ncaa tournament vs new orleans and indiana. both games are in good shape.

-1994 crosstown shootout. i believe this was the handshake game. the beginning of the tape is out of whack, so if you're interested in the intros it's kind of bad, but other than that it's in good shape.

-1996 shootout. haven't looked at it all the way through yet, but it looks as though it will copy to dvd just fine.

-1997 crosstown shootout. the game is in good shape, but a few minutes wouldn't copy.

-1999 crosstown shootout (mint condition)

-1999 postseason nit vs clemson (fair condition)

-2000-01 crosstown shootout (mint condition)

-2002 ncaa tournamnet vs hawaii and oklahoma (mint condition)

-2002 preseason nit vs stanford (mint condition)

-2002-2003 season vs alabama (mint condition)

-2003 vs temple (senior night with david west (mint condition)

-2003 crosstown shootout (mint condition)

-2003 at dayton (mint condition). i believe the first ten minutes are missing because espn cut to the game late. this is not the game where david west scored 47, but rather the "beat xavier" shirt game.

-2003 ncaa tournament vs troy and Maryland (mint condition)

-2004 crosstown shootout (mint condition)

-2004 atlantic ten tournament vs saint joseph's, george washington, dayton (all in mint condition)

-2004 ncaa tournament vs louisville, mississippi state, texas, duke (all in mint condition)

-1988 preseason nit vs louisville (i want this one the most. i grew up in louisville and was nine at the time and remember watching it with my parents).

-better copies of the 1990 ncaa tournament

-a better copy of the 1987 ncaa tournament game vs duke

-dayton at xavier in 2003 (the d-west game)

-2006 atlantic ten tournament games, and ncaa tournament game vs gonzaga


if anyone has any of those, or any other interesting games on vhs, i'm willing to convert them to dvd for you, and let you pick from my library as well if you want to set up a trade. obviously it will be easier to set things up with people who live in the cincinnati/dayton area, but i want the 1988 louisville game so badly i'd probably be willing to pay for the shipping. feel free to respond to the thread, shoot me a pm, or send me an email at xubrew@yahoo.com.

I have the 1990 NCAA games (on DVD now - I think). I also have the David West 47 point game as well. I'm at work now (working real hard!) so I really can't check my whole inventory till I get home.

I am also pretty sure I have the 2006 A-10 games and the Gonzaga game.

Sorry - I don't have the Louisville game - I was there.

I would really like to see those Missouri and Duke NCAA games. I was at the Duke game and I remember getting my grade school teacher to get a TV in our classroom so that we could watch the Missouri game (she did).

What a great collection, and what a great effort. I would assume that X has these archived, but not necessarily broadcast editions.

I would love to have the New Years Eve Creighton game, the 1990 Loyola Marymont game (I have a bit part in that game!), two of the most exciting games I have ever attended.

the game against creighton is a tough one because it was not broadcast on television. you'd have to get a copy of either xavier's or creighton's coaching reel. in other words, you'd have to know a deep insider. it's not copyrighted, though.

I would love to see the NIT 1958 championship game against Dayton. I googled myself to death trying to find a source for it. Anyone out there know if it is possible to get it ?
