I told you so!!!
It looks like i deserve an apology on here from many of you especially you mr. neutral. I was right about Sato not making the nba because thad did not teach him to jump off of one foot, i was right about mcclean's free throw form, and now my theory of x doing bad after exam week was proven...not only proven but Byron larkin and joe sunderman on the radio agreed with me that the exam week and i quote "throws them out of rythm." So if you disagree with me then you disagree with Byron and joe. i know many of you can say x lost for many reasons but x is not as bad as they played today ....they were uncharacteristically this bad because of exam week...just like they are every year. my expectation in the future is that time in and time out from being proven right that posters on here will begin to give me credit for my knowledge of the game and of x. Thank you for your support!

We got out played and out coached. Did Miller get out coached because it's exam week too? Is he going back to school? You're an idiot

Re: I told you so!!!
we got outplayed, but i wouldn't even go the the extent that we got outcoached...everytime we lose a big game or a game where we all have high hopes too many people look to miller to blame...did we get outplayed? yes. but even at our very best, i'm not sure we come away with a W today. Duke by far played its best game of the year. *****, they were up 18-1 at the first tv timeout. Think about that. They came out of the gates hitting on all cylinders and put up 18 points in 4 minutes. That's unreal. If Duke plays that way and shoots like that, no team will beat them. It was just unfortunate that we caught them on such a great day for them and a bad one for us. Miller has done an outstanding job in his tenure at Xavier and especially this year. No one would have guessed that through 10 games he'd have them at 9-1 and nationally ranked.
So i don't look to blame Miller or say he was out-coached. Hats off to Coach K and the Duke players because they really played a near flawless game and would have beat anyone with that type of performance.

How about our post Shootout record. In the last 5 years we've lost the next game when we win the Shootout and won the next game when we lose to UC.

Duke started out the game 18-1. We looked like we were trying to play this really fast paced up tempo kind of game that is not our style this year at all and it led to a bunch of big turnovers. Duke is used to this kind of game, and Coach K knows how to prepare for these better then almost any other coach. I don't think it is the worst thing in the world to say that Sean was outcoached today by Coach K. Duke was just better prepared for this game, and a lot of that preperation work falls on the coach. I do think Sean is a great coach, but he is still learning how to coach an elite caliber team. He might be the best in the Atlantic 10, but people like Coach K and Roy Williams are still at another coaching level right now. He isn't quite there....yet.

millerdad,
Correlation is not causation! Your "theory" is correct? What? Like the theory of relativity or the theory of evolution? Should we teach your theory in schools?
You should read a book called "The Black Swan" or at least read some Popper.

EXCEPT Sean didn't agree with that "theory" and said so in his post game comments. No one owes you an apology but if someone wants to make you feel good I will not stand in their way no matter how misguided they might be but then maybe it will be a student that had exams last week and they don't feel at the top of their game.

I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

Sean showed me today he really is a fine coach. His post-game comments were measured, honest, not sugar-coated and no excuses. Contrast that if you will to Huggins and the way he always ripped his players after a loss. The guy is one of the best coaches I've seen in my half-century of watching Xavier basketball.

Re: I told you so!!!
This was my point. I don't see the shame is saying we were out-coached. It's not like I went on a rant about how bad of a coach Miller is. I just think we didn't come in prepared and didn't play very hard or smart in the first half. I think part of that falls on the coach. I still like Sean and think he's a good coach, but i'm not going to sugar coat the a$$ beating we just took.MuskieCinci wrote:Duke started out the game 18-1.
