I agree with everything Anti-homer said. We need to move quickly with a new coach. The transfer portal starts tomorrow. It's all about the N.I.L. money now. It's unrealistic for Xavier to be a top 25 team when we are probably about 75th to 100th in N.I.L. money. I think I read U Conn has about 10 million for N.I.L. basketball. I would love Murray or Kelsey or Rahim or Valentine. I would be very disappointed in a Mack hire. Realistically it will take a week or so at best to hire a new coach. Wouldn't be surprised if Swain and Conwell follow Miller to Texas. Really don't care if they do. Need to get the right coach. I doubt we hire a better coach than Miller but maybe we hire a better recruiter. A lot depends on getting the right coach. Really everything. So it should be a interesting couple of weeks for the Xavier Nation. Go X

Xavier 2005 Kelsey makes 2.3 million a year. I believe Miller makes over 5 million a year at Xavier. Not sure what Kelsey's buyout costs.

Coaches are making the big bucks; most don't need more millions. I think Miller, as well as other coaches, want to win a national championship, so they go to the big NIL bankrolls.
OT - I saw the "Celebrate student athletes" banner during the tournament. Players nowadays may be athletes, but they are no more students than those play pro ball.

I think you're way off about Conn.'s NIL. Way off. Also, X paid a lot in NIL last year. I can tell you getting highly sought-after guys like Maddox, Conwell and Foster wasn't cheap. Then, they paid Hugley north of $250k, and Anderson to sit out a year. All players got paid (Free, Hunter, Swain, etc). I'm not sure what Fletcher got.

BTW, sadly, Rahim died unexpectedly 6 mos ago but I wouldn't have wanted him or Valentine anyway. My top 2 guys are Mack, Murray, and Richard Pitino in the 2nd tier. My only concern is he has the Pitino bloodline, so would bolt at some point with success.

AH is right. Louisville announced they are willing to pay 10 million in the NIL. Look, if the players are going to get paid, then contracts should be included, like in the NBA. Only when the contract is over do they move. I don't like it, but the movement year to year with a player is not tenable. I recently saw a player being at 5 different schools. What has been created? A POX ON the process.

X needs to move fast. OSU (and I'm sure a bunch of others) is going after Swain. He played AAU with a couple of players on the team.
