1. First off; our tourney Confernce finish,

2. Secondly, Xaviers' NCAA finish.

I will be happy with an appearnece in the finals of the A-10 Championship.....

If Xavier doesn't make it to the sweet 16 then they will continue to be known as a mid major. If Xavier really doesnt want to be called a mid major then they have to prove it. Xavier is going to win their first game but the 2ns game will be tough. Xavier has already proved that they are legit so I could care less if they win the A-10. If Xavier ever wants to win a championship then they have to make it to the final 4 this year. It will be a huge task but if Xavier is going to take that next step then this is the year.

You see, the "anything less" mandates smacks of an "or else" philosophy.
Hell yes I'm happy with the conference. If anything, the conference might have been over-rated. But Xavier has proved that it is not. Was Xavier not the choice to win the confernce crown? I'd say Xavier has lived up to its billing. Unless anything less than a 20-30 point margin of victory in every game is unacceptable.
Remember, ratings are just someone's opinion.
Yeah, it's nice to be among the top 10 and it's always good to be da King, unless of course they're killing the kings today.
Once you enter the NCAA you're involved in a 65-team crapshoot. Theoretically anybody can beat anybody. However 1 seeds never have lost to a 16 seed. But eventually, that too will happen. It will happen when the NCAA stops discriminating against the smaller non-BCS conferences.
Every time Xavier plays in an NCAA tournament I enjoy the appearance and every victory in that tournament makes it that much sweeter.
But I also know that there are the John Cahills who fail to call intentional fouls. I wonder what he thinks is an intentional foul. I call grabbing Justin Cage and throwing him into the stands pretty damn flagrant. Had Cage made that second free throw it would have been moot.
But there are always things like that which happen in the NCAA tournament. And there will always be incompetent referees who benefit from the Peter Principle. There are always fresk injuries and guys who haven't hit a three-point shot all year who lob one in from halfcourt to beat you by one point.
The point I guess is I like to think anything my team does is acceptable, as long as they give their best, try their hardest and do it the right way. That's quite acceptable, thank you.

i definitely want the musketeers to win out...i definitely want the musketeers to win the A10 tournament. The season is a long haul for the players and to win the tournament championship is the prize. Championships are not a given so they should be appreciated. Just ask all the teams in any sport that haven't seen one for a while. The musketeers need to at least! repeat to the great 8 to match the previous mark. Then, set their own mark. As important as success is to us in the seats, surely, it means everything to the musketeers.

A10 Championship and Elite 8 would be great, but I'll take just the Elite 8. No one will remember the conference tournament championship in a few years but a run in the tournament is lasting.

I'd be the first to agree with you Q that there's way to much put on NCAA performance. A school can go 27-3, win a regular and conf champ., garner a 2 seed, and lose in the second round and have the entire season looked upon as a dissapointment. But , unfortuanately, and the absolute truth, is that is the world we live in, that is college basketball, and a team is judged on how it does in that week or two span.

For X, as it is for most teams, that second game the first weekend is the real pressure-cooker. You are guarenteed to play a quality opponent, and will be in for battle. Its all about the draw.

As long as they play hard and do their best I will take what they give us. To my way of thinking it is hard to ask for much more.

There are too many "ifs" ... if Drew is healthy, if we don't get a bad seed and/or hit some team that plays out of their minds (it happens to lots of good teams every year), if some ref does not have a hair brained call. I am not trying to be pessimistic only realistic. I am right in there with q's thinking ... well spoken, my friend.

I agree - too many ifs. With a fully healthy Drew I am disappointed with anything less than an Elite 8. Without Drew healthy anything past game one is a crap shoot - and maybe game one depending on how they seed us. I believe they take injuries into account in the seedings, so if Drew is not acclaimed healthy they could have that as an excuse to drop our seeding, which makes things worse.

I can't wait for selection Sunday to get the ball rolling and here is hoping for a healthy Drew by then.

It would be nice to win out thru the A10 tourney but my sights are set on the NCAA's.It would be disappointing to not make it past the first weekend after the year this team has had.For better or worse people will judge this team based on how far they go in March.The 1998 team was great but you always remember the first round loss to Washington.Same with West's senior year-great expectations were not met in the tourney losing in the second round when they were talked about as a final four team
