Hey guys, I'm a former Bearcat fan who swore off all allegiance to the program when they fired Huggins. I now follow WVU, but I really have a ton of respect for the entire XU administration/athletic department, as well as what Miller has been able to accomplish. Just wanted to wish you guys good luck next Thursday, hope for a good, clean game. Also, I just had one question: what do you guys honestly think of Huggins? I know that he and Prosser (RIP Skip) were really good friends, but I'm curious what kind of esteem most XU fans hold the guy in.

I like Huggins. I have run in to him twice, and both times he was a very nice guy. I will admit, I did not like him much in the Gillen are, but I started to like him more during the Prosser days. Also, when I look at a coach, I look at how his players react to him, and from what I saw Huggins' players loved him...and that says a lot in my opinion.

I think anyone who follows another program because the coach, was never really a fan of the program in the 1st place. As for Huggins I have nothing against him but I really don't understand the love affair some people in Cincinnati have with him. In my eyes real fans follow a program and a University and not the coach.

I understand that sentiment, but I didn't really follow UC just because of Huggins. I'm a UC alum (class of 65), and I remember as well as anyone the days of Ed Jucker, the Big O, George Wilson, Jack Twyman, and the back-to-back national titles. I'm still bitter about the loss to Loyola in 63, up 10 with 10 minutes left. I remember the dry years (Tony Yates, anyone?) as well as the good years. So to say that I'm a UC fan just because of Huggins is not correct. However, the administration had wronged us so much (including hiring that weasel Cronin) that I simply cannot bring myself to cheer for the program until the current regime (Cronin, Zimpher, Thomas, et al.) are gone.

Well, I'm a former Bearcat, Class of '92. I was a senior during the Final Four year. Obviously, I loved Huggins at the time. And I've also been a fan of Xavier since the early 80s. Quite honestly, I never understood the love and support Bearcat fans like you have given Huggins all these years. He embarrassed the university time after time with the thugs he pulled in off the streets. College athletics is generally a mockery of what is was intended to be, but Huggins took its degradation to a whole other level. We're not talking about minor offenses, but rape, torture, drug possession, assault & battery, etc. And then came his own drunken driving. My only complaint about Zimpher is that she waited so long to fire him. What's more, it isn't as if we were winning championships with this guy -- we couldn't get out of the second round!!! So again, I cannot understand your support of Huggins. Yes, he was a great recruiter, and yes, it is painful to think that the Bearcats of 2008 could have had Mayo, Walker and Beasley. But Huggins is a bad guy and needed to go. Xavier is proof that you can build an elite program with character guys who don't embarrass your university.

Enough of all that. Go Xavier! I'm in LA now and would love to knock off the Bruins!

grew up in a uc household...huggins.... olde school coach ... recruiting may have been hard at uc campus during that time, 1)blue chippers bypassed 2)players had to be developed with a combination of 3)1 year and done players to pro?/probation 4)jucos 5) off campus problems for all...huggins personality became bigger than program and.....it is a rare scenario for a basketball team/program/university to travel and be Hated! in so many arenas in the country..possibly after different scenery, huggins has reevaluated himself, at least trying to improve image, but he's one of those guys that when somebody keeps score...... recruiting at wva will tell the future....1 more thing, i began to resent the way he treated his players and staff in public, in games, on TV....too big for his loafers
