Students go FREE to Sweet 16 game

Xavier had 200 student tickets available for the Sweet 16 a few days ago...for sale of course. Davidson, per ESPN this morning, offered its students free transportation per buses, free game tickets, and 2 days of free rooms at a hotel for those wishing to go to the Sweet 16 game. ESPN said they thought the school may have done this because their yearly tuition cost is $31,000 per year.

That would be the most incredible thing ever. The difference with Xavier though is that there would not be enough student tickets to give out for free since so many students would want to go. I suppose they could do a lottery or something though if need be.

Quick correction RONALD... Davidson is a bit more steep than 31K... it's 41K a year. In fairness to X, we are knee deep in a capital campaign to lift the overall level of the university and charge about 25% less per year in tuition... (not saying it's cheap by any means)

If XU would have done this for our students, they would have needed to leave Sunday morning & would just be arriving in Phoenix at 6PM if they were taking the Greyhound....

It's a great idea, but logically you would fly from here to Phoenix & XU is generous but that's a good chunk of cheddar to kick in to get your fans there. If you figure 2000 kids go and need room/board and flights -- you are looking at a $2.3MM bill. For Room/Board and bus for Davidson, it can't be much more than $700k.

No matter how you look at it, it's pricey.

What a great idea by Davidson.
