Purdue just announced that its makeover of Mackey Arena on campus will now cost $99 million. This is just a makeover AND they still will have the majority fo the 13,000 or 14,000 seats as benches with no backs on them.
Sometimes we perhaps forget how very fortunate we are to have the Cintas, which I believe cost about $44 million when built 9 years ago. It is a first class facility with 10,500 seats and 21 suites and much, much more. What a great time to be a Xavier Grad and an X BB fan.

No doubt.
God Bless Father James Hoff who had the vision, skills and schmoozing ability to pull that project off.
Gonxaga (note spelling/pronunciation), Rhode Island and St. Louis have already copied our design. The building has hosted numerous high profile events and the recruiting has been greatly enhanced. It has done what our great former President had planned for it to do.
Never forget Father Hoff, as opposed to a former coach who forgot to attend the funeral.

St Louis's new arena is really nice looking outside, looks much more like the schott than the cintas outside, tons of glass and red brick. They are trying to compete with the scottrade center for concerts ext...they say 70 events a year. Cintas is much more involved in the campus, slu's new arena is on the very east side of the campus ajoined by the highway and harris stowe, another college. As much as I miss the gardens...never got over that smokey haze of the gardens...The cintas is a dream. I will say that XU should take a look at pictures of PBS 5 years ago when every facade what plain concrete, and now, the bengals have done a great job of FINISHING PBS, even though it took years...X should do the same, more of the bannedrs we see in the concourse in the areana, All u see on tv are the Huge Curtains and plain concrete with a scattering of banners. Asign some students...takethe cintas to a new level inside...
