Loser Reporting

Postby AlamoCity » Sun Jun 08, 2008 12:54 am

After reading Heather Dinich rip on X towards the end of the regular season based on first ever article on basketball vs football we have yet to see ESPN write another bad post.

It was nice to hear Shaq give a plug to James Posey in the Pre Show of the Belmont (with his Vitamin water which tastes great) being only one of 2 guys in the Finals to be hungry for a second Ring.

Thanks to the guy with the Cleveland paper post article about his former coach.

I know this is not the forum for this but it would have been nice to see a Triple Crown winner without someone claiming they know it all and Dutrows reasons for talking up his horse. How may of us would be happy to be in such a position to not only win one leg of the Triple Crown but a shot at the whole deal..

How many writers have to be negative just to have a job. Pat Forde is a complete loser. Dutrow had every right to talk big about his horse based on the first 2 races.

Makes me want to quit my day job. I bet the guy never played anything past grade school but knows all - how many times have we seen this.

You have to admit, Alamo, that Big Brown's people set themselves up for this kind of criticism; shoot your mouth off all over the place, and you damn well better back it up.

I heard a short pre-race interview with Dutrow on the radio yesterday, and I took an instant dislike to the guy. I can only imagine how the writers who've been dealing with him for weeks feel about him, and the rest of the Big Brown team.

I've got no problem with Forde's article. That trainer has been acting like an arrogant douche for the past few weeks and now he looks dumb. That's funny to me, not negative. Where does a horse trainer get that kind of an ego anyway? I wouldn't have minded seeing a Triple Crown winner, but seeing Big Brown finish dead last was enjoyable solely because of how big an A-hole that trainer is. We have enough clowns in the real sports, we don't need horse trainers acting that way.

Of course you would take an instant dislike to him Neutral(?) .. He's a guy who see's a half glass as a full glass.
He didn't run last, the horse ran last. The horse by every measureable means was "ready." Trained well, ate well, went to the post relaxed, but went rank into the first turn and really never recovered. That was the tariner's fault. Ye know little about horse racing.
Want to lay blame? Try Kent. Take a close, and slo motion look of what Kent did with Big Brown in that first turn. He made three different moves inside a pack of trouble just to get on the outside. Big Brown went rank on him. Kent, when he was making those moves, had over a mile to get to the outside, but made (IMO) the move far too early.
But give Kent a world of credit also when in the turn for home he knew they were finished, and rightfully, pulled up to save Big Brown any unessary punishment and to come back sound to race another day.
Haven't seen a pip of a sqeak from any horseman how Dudrow screwed up .. save the ever-knowing media.
Am I bitter about my $40. donation to the betterment of the breed, hell no .. like Big Brown losing .. that's horse racing!

Wise, if you go back and read my post, I in no way blamed Dutrow for how Big Brown performed yesterday. What I did blame Dutrow for was coming off like an arrogant ass BEFORE the race, which made him look especially foolish after his horse finished absolute, dead last.

Should he have had confidence in his horse? Sure, especially after the Derby and Preakness. But just listening to the guy, he came off as insufferable, and as MOR's finding out after crowing about his Indians, sometimes it helps to wait until AFTER the games have been played (or the race has been run) before going on about how good your team (or horse) is.

Get glasses Neitral(?).
Didn't say you blamed him. You said you disliked him (on the basis of a "short" interview) and I said "of course you'd take an instant dislike to him.
Now, where is it that I said you blamed him?
If you are referring to the rest of my post, it was not directed to you. It was my observation of the race.
Guess you must dislike Nick too. He said before the race he liked his horse. Ever hear a jockey, trainer, owner say before the race they don't like their chances of winning?
That's horse racing Bub!

PS... I looked at the race twice again tonight in stop action slo mo, and I am more than ever convinced that Kent panicked on the first turn, took the horse out of his rythym, the horse became rank, and it finished him.
I also question Rick for ending the monthly steroid shots in May because of media critisism. It may well have been a factor, but then we'll never know.
Lotsa talk now whether to retire him, or race again at Saratoga and then the Breeders Cup. Lots to be said each way, but if they want the $500K a pop he was destined for, IMO he has to run at least in the Travers.

I think you can see where the above might be a bit confusing, Wise. You go right from a comment directed at to me to other comments you say aren't directed at me without actually noting that. You might want to try what I've done on occasion when directing comments at several people or on several unrelated topics-put the name of the person's comment you're responding to in bold at the beginning of that particular paragraph, or possibly number your topics, etc. Otherwise, it reads as one long diatribe, and it's a little hazy as to which shots are aimed in which direction(s).

And both Dutrow and Zito "liked their horse". Of course they did, and deservedly so (at least before the race). But let's say Sean Miller had made the same comments about our upcoming opponents after beating K.St., UVA and Auburn by approx. 30 points each. Miller would have been criticized for being arrogant, and disrespectful of the opponents. Same thing holds true here for Dutrow, along with the inescapable fact that you look like an absolute idiot when you say the competition sucks, and then YOUR horse/team is the one doing the sucking.

Very simply, I NEVER predict victory in a trial, no matter how lopsided my case looks to be, and I tell my lawyers to do the same. If you have to crow, do it AFTER the verdict comes in, not before, unless you're really looking forward to eating that same crow when things go south.

I can multi-task, Wise. It's one of my many gifts.
