Fight Song Change?

I don't know about any of you, but have you noticed that the beginning of the fight song has changed? Apparently there's a new pep band director and he got the brilliant idea to change it because he felt that it was 'time for tradition to start anew' (not a direct quote, but a paraphrase of what a band member told me).

Am I the only one who is offended by this? Supposedly if enough people email him, he'll change it back to the way it should be. Please tell me that you all are feeling the same way and will email him or make noise in other ways. I love my school and my fight song and I don't want some new guy to come in here thinking that he's hot stuff and can change it to his liking because he had some "great" idea for how to improve the fight song. I can get contact info if enough people are willing to email him.

as for the alma mater, I didnt even notice that change. maybe it's because none of the students know the lyrics in the first place. Perhaps we should address both issues? but fight song first.

Many people would stand and sing the alma mater or at least try but now it is ignored after a game. I turned my back to it for your reasons nick. What is with this we need something new.

Let's think about these two issues together, the fight song being changed and the alma mater. We need to work on the awareness and respect for it with the students and we also need to figure out how to get the fight song changed.

I noticed the fight song was favorably sped up to 'pep band' speed! I recall a few years ago the alma mater was "reritin'" by the outgoing music director for some reason. A committee or group? believed the old a.m. was not easy to sing. The new alma mater was introduced, with sheet music! to the Cintas Center.X should have kept the original score, maybe re-worded. 10,250 surely don't identify with new version. I mentally recall the old a.m., every post game. It is a classic song, as good as any university in the country...

The opening to the fight song was changed as an experiment. It has been changed back as of this moment. Thanks for your passion for Xavier and the pep band.
