Re: possible transfers

Let's see. Correct me if I'm wrong here. The last post on this thread was Nov. 26. At that time, Xavier was 5-0, having beaten a very good Toledo team (watch the MAC), a good Missouri team, an NCAA tournament bound Virginia Tech and a defending national runner-up, Memphis.
In addition, the only true point guard at this writing is Terrell Holloway who will be out 2-4 weeks or more with a stress fracture in his left foot.
A natural 2 guard is playing the point and trying to act as defensive stopper, his backup is a freshman who can shoot the lights out if someone ever sets a good screen for him and who looks first to pass and then to shoot all the while being potentially the best pure shooter in Xavier history.
One senior forward slashes to the basket and scores, is prone to fouling and can't seem to hit free throws. His backup can score in many ways, rebound and defend, but he, too, can be a brick mason at times.
Another senior forward who starts at the two-guard has a deadly shot from three-point range that somehow has yet to manifest itself with consistency. And he's a fair defender. A freshman who floats between the 2 and the 3 is still a question mark and is having trouble adjusting despite his talent.
Our junior starting center is gradually becoming a force on the boards and in scoring and can play pretty good defense. Our 7-foot freshman center is learning the college game and is a good example of Bob Knight's "The best thing about freshman is they become sophomores."
Our starting four man has yet to develop a consistent shot from 15 feet in and while he can shoot the three hesitates too often and passes
He, too can be a defensive stopper to add to his rebounding and leaping abilities. His backup at four gave up his scholarship for a time and has seen little more than walk-on playing time.
To to paraphrase a combination Jim Mora-Alan Iverson, "Transfers, we talkin' about transfers. Red-shirts, we talkin' about red-shirts...Transfers, redshirts, transfers, red-shirts?????"
A 5-0 team with an injured point guard, two fine athletes ineligible at this time and a tough backyard rival over the years coming up tomorrow and we're talkin' about transfers, red-shirts.
Meanwhile, Chad Ocho Cinco Johnson's Riverfront Paul Brown soap opera continues, the local college football team is within one victory of the biggest post season bowl in its history, that team's basketball brothers are off to a good start against weak competition, two high school football teams are in the state finals today and tomorrow and I just ate more food in one sitting than I have in the previous year.
All I can say when someone mentions "transfers" or "red-shirts" is B-U-R-P !!!!!!!

I guess the concern is we will have too many good players. That's a nice problem to have.Things will take care of themselves.Holloway's injury shows that you can't have too much depth-a problem the Bungles unfortunately don't have.
