Re: Southeastern Louisiana game thread
I didn't realize the game was on till there was 5 minutes left. I know the other team was terrible but my man Edwards looked pretty good when he got some time. He doesn't look any slower than the other Big GUYS to me. Freemantle in the Dog house again?

Yeah he only got a double double tonight. Edwards was a nice spark off the bench. I hope he gets more playing time.Kevin Reilly wrote: ↑Wed Nov 30, 2022 10:36 pmI didn't realize the game was on till there was 5 minutes left. I asked a ref if he could give me a technical foul for thinking bad things about him. He said, of course not. I said, well, I think you stink. And he gave me a technical. You can't trust em.

No I meant why didn't Fremantle start? I read he got a double -double just kind of strange he didn't start .I 'm sure there is a reason. Heck Tandy is still starting. I was happy to see Craft have a nice game. I like his game. Team orientated. Also are games against Indiana and Duke are looking better

Re: Southeastern Louisiana game thread
Sean mentioned that he did it because he wanted to defend the three-point shooting of SLU. He also mentioned he came in after the first break and started the second half. He also thought Kam and Des did a good job and because they are bigger, it makes it harder for players to score over them. Sean also said Hunter gave good energy and he is quicker on the perimeter
He added that he thought the D was good just not for a full 40 minutes.

Not much to take from this one, other than it was nice to drub a team you are expected to drub. Agree with just about all the takes. I will add, and certainly not to be any sort of Debbie-Downer, but seem to sense Craft is not as athletic as I had imagined. Not his fault, and he seems to be on a quick learning curve and can score the ball some - which is fab. I am only pointing out that he may be a defensive liability trying to guard quick wings in Man D sets. I saw him get blown by twice on average crossover / hesitation dribble moves last eve. Once again, he is just a Frosh and brings many positives to the table, so not in any way knocking the young man.

Glad it was an easy win. Love that Sean is stressing defense.
Edwards looked great. I'm curious how he would look against top tier bigs. He moves better than Miles but doesn't have the length of Miles. He seems more sturdy but not sure he can do much to prevent guys from shooting over him. He looked more polished than last year.

agree with the first line, along with rebounding. Miller's number 1 thing he's talked about was getting Xavier back to being TOUGHER. Those teams he had when he was our head coach - they were TOUGH. that's his mentality. he knows HOW to coach guys to play that way. and you only get tougher by defending better and rebounding harder. those two things, as long as you have/recruit the right players, can be coached and he knows how to get these dudes to do that. he may not have all "his" guys yet, but he's getting the most out of and can get more out of this group as this season goes on.pdxmuskie wrote: ↑Thu Dec 01, 2022 7:32 pmGlad it was an easy win. the other thing that i notice a HUGE difference in is just shot selection'patience. Miller has clearly defined roles for each player because i can't tell you how many times i've watched games this year already and said multiple times "so and so would have jacked that shot up right there last season". Miller has set expectations for each player in the offense and they seem to buying into that. and guess what, if they aren't, he puts them on the bench immediately.
i love how different this team looks this season already and they're gonna get better.
can't wait for tomorrow.

Sean in his presser said he was happy with Craft's improvement in his defense in the SLU game.
