Pat Kelsey past player and coach update
Pat Kelsey is Head Coach at College of Charleston in the Colonial League. They are in first place. Record this year is 21-3. Not ranked for whatever reasons. But watch out IF they are in March Madness....they are currently ranked as 7th Nationally in scoring points.. You do NOT have to rebound if you make most of your shots and are high scoring. I am sure their schedule is not heavy with ranked big name schools but most big name schools do NOT wish to play teams which might , just might, beat them. Good luck to Pat!!!

He was chastised for saying this but Kelsey should have been the coach instead of Steele.

Kelsey has a lot of perceived negatives as a head coach on and off the court. Wish him well and hope he proves everyone wrong.

I believe they were ranked until the most recent loss. I had some classes with Pat and he was always a great guy. He would have been a better hiring decision but we have Miller now and Pat is doing well where he is, so it all seems to have worked out.

Who would you like, Kelsey or Miller? What is passed is passed, and only Monday morning QB are 100% correct. I wanted Pat, but the extra years of coaching have benefited him. Like Sean and Chris, they all found "greener pastures," and who can say that Pat would not have done the same? After this year or the next, we might see Sean move on again; I hope not, but never say never... a past coach said that God rest his soul.

Re: Pat Kelsey past player and coach update
I would hope that Miller wouldn't be quick to jump to a new opportunity. Certainly it would be reasonable to consider other opportunities as they present themselves but in my mind, the other opportunity would have to be significantly better. That could be financial and/or a program with superior recruiting potential or more desirable weather/topography.
Xavier fans, with the exception of 1, have welcomed Sean back with open arms. The school put trust in him before the NCAA made a final ruling on the incident at AZ. He is having instant success at Xavier, which has to be improving our recruiting profile. The BE is a legit conference with recent National Championships.
Moving on for a marginal improvement in circumstances should be less likely. Presumably he either likes Cincinatti or he had no quality opportunities beyond Xavier. If Xavier was the only successful program expressing interest, he should have some appreciation for that and if he likes Cincinnati, then moving for a few extra dollars is kind of silly.
Duke, NC, or a team out west with superior weather and/or mountains/beaches would be reasonable reasons to move.
