Re: Portal time and names
I agree with you 100% and I think that works for recruits more than those in portal. Miller will have to do a better job keeping players and recruits. Things are crazy, a player just entered the portal in order to go to his 4th school. We can start by trying to keep Green and Claude and add a couple bigs since we screwed up with Nze and Lazar.

Re: Portal time and names
I'm hearing that the NCAA is getting serious about revisiting the portal and NIL. To me, a kid commits to a school and the next thing you know, he's off and running.
Miller had a bit different situation, he loses two reliable players to injury or sickness and has to scurry to fill a competitive Big East schedule. No real bench proven players, except Dez and he's a sophomore. Hell, I think he did magic with the #1 most difficult schedule in Men's D1 . Obviously, the guys get worn out by BE conference play and enter the meat grinder. So, he's back and I'm sure his assistants are spending many hours trying to fit us for the next season.
If he finds a few good men, he'll be in business. To me, Swain is the pivot.
If we only know how the pieces fall.....such wisdom and a ton of luck.

Re: Portal time and names
My fix would be this:
If you accept NIL money over a certain amount (maybe $100K) you have to sit a year to transfer like the old days. Unless the coach leaves in which case you have immediate eligibility. If you make less than $100K you can also get immediate eligibility.

Excellent idea Lionelchalmers0. On the portal front I read we are after Johnell Davis a 6-4 guard from FAU who averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds and shot41% from the three point line and Danny Wolf a 7 foot 255 lb center from Yale who is Sophomore who averaged 14 points and 9.7 rebounds a game

Re: Portal time and names
I don’t think it’s ever happened that an X kid went to UC, or vice-versa, but Viktor Lakhin, with the right coaching would be a nice fit

Thanks for explaining the portal and NIL limits.
I'm sure there's all kinds of games played in some circles.

Re: Portal time and names
I have questions
If we have players listed in the portal and they haven't moved to another school, do they have something in the rules that
allows them to return to XU?
Does the school have to take them back?
Scholarship? Is there a time limit?
Thanks in advance. I know you folks can explain.
I'm hoping Lazar might be at XU.

Two way street... If X wants them back they're back... If not they're on their own... Scholarships are only one year deals... DanXU'59 wrote: ↑Mon Apr 08, 2024 4:51 pmI have questions![]()

Re: Portal time and names
article claims over 1400 college men division one basketball players have entered the portal to transfer to another school, with so many freshmen and portal transfers, who knows what any team might look like for the 2024-25 season.
